A funny letter Papa wrote to Vieva:

Bloomfield
Sunday afternoon

My Darling Vieva
I wonder what you are doing this afternoon.
I guess you are down by the ocean on the sand letting the wind blow your hair and with your hands in the sand up to your elbows.
Won't you please come to Papa and kiss him - right way now, Vieva.  Why don't you mind Papa?
Well I will send a barrel of kisses and Allie will send a barrel too.
If yo were here I would give you a smoke kiss but as you are not I will blow one in this letter - see if you can get it and kiss Mamma and make her sneeze.
     With lots of love
              Your loving Papa
