Memories

     Aunt Allie and Uncle Bill, who was a chemist, lived at the other end of the block when we lived in Evanston.  Mom and Dad chose Evanston so that they would be near Mom's sister.  Aunt Allie loved gardening.  She shared her flowers, perhaps vegetables.  It was a gift that she gave to everyone.  It was lovely--almost like a painting.
     We alternated spending Christmas with one another.  Perhaps the most memorable was the year that they gave Ernie a game--of which he already had more than one--but he politely thanked them for it.  Being the depression, this was difficult.
