Pine Island, Minnesota - 6 July 1950 - Godfrey Letcher, 92,
Passes Away
Godfrey Letcher passed away on July 3 at the age of 92, at the home of his
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McGowan of Pine Island where he has
made his home for the past two years. Deceased was the son of the late John and
Elizabeth Letcher and was born April 15, 1858, in Monroe, Wisconsin. As a small
boy he came with his parents to Berne, Minnesota where he grew to manhood. He
was united in marriage to the former Addie Ames of Milton township in 1884, at
Concord. His wife preceded him in death just two years ago, July 12. Surviving
are his four daughters, Mrs. Wm. McGowan and Mrs. Hiram McGown, of Pine Island,
Mrs. Libbie Monson of Rochester, and Mrs. Hugo Brehmer of Minneapolis. He had
18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 13 great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Methodist church,
the Rev. Elverado Cox officiating. Burial was in the Pine Island cemetery

Mrs.
Godfrey Letcher - Funeral Is Conducted - Pine Island - Funderal services for
Mrs. Godfrey Letcher, Rochester resident for many years, were conducted at the Pine Island Gospel
Tabernacle this afternoon. Burial was in the Pine Island cemetery. Mrs.
Letcher, who was 82 years old,
died Monday at the Berne home of a daughter, Mrs. Will McGowan with whom Mr.
and Mrs. Letcher lived after leaving Rochester this
spring. They celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary in Rochester this
year. Survivors of Mrs. Letcher are her husband, four daughters, 10 grandchildren, 32 great
grandchildren. Daughters, in additon to Mrs. William McGowan, are Mrs. Hiram
McGowan of Pine Island, Mrs.
Lloyd Munson of Rochester and Mrs. Hugo Brehmer of Minneapolis. Mrs. Letcher
was born January 22, 1866, in St. James, Minn., and came to Milton township in Dodge
county when she was a child. Arrangements for the funeral were in charge of
A.A. Mahler.

Service will be Friday for Blanche Musolf - A Mass of Christian burial
will be offered for Blanche Ruth Musolf at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Pioux X
Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thien Nguyen officiating. Burial will be in
Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Musolf, 89, a resident of Maple Manor Nursing Home and a
longtime Rochester resident, died Sunday (April 18, 1993) at the nursing home.
Born Blanche Ruth McGowan on June 9, 1903, in Dodge County, she grew up in Pine
Island. She married Michael Pleming in 1925, and they farmed near Douglas until
moving to Rochester in 1930. Mr. Pleming died in 1951. In 1957 she married Fred
Musolf, and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Musolf managed the Deluxe and
Townhouse motels before her retirement, and she worked in the foster
grandparent program for 17 years. She was a longtime member of St. Pius X
Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Marvin McGowan of Rochester; three
daughters, Lucille Moran of Arpin, Wis., Mary Ellen Zachman of Eden Prairie,
Minn., and Marie Therese (Mrs. Paul) Hennessey of Rochester; 18 grandchildren;
24 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gertrude Nichols of Pequot Lakes, Minn.,
Grace McGowan of Rochester and Donna McGowan of Minneapolis; and a brother,
David McGowan of California. A daughter, a granson, a brother and a sister
preceded her in death. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at
Macken Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Rochester - Funeral Mass for Lucille M. Moran was today at St. James
Catholic Church in Vesper, Wis., with the Rev. Jude Ndugbu officiating. Burial
was in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Mrs. Moran, 76, of Arpin, Wis., formerly
of Rochester, died Saturday night (Nov. 23, 2002) at Wells Nature view in Marshfield,
Wis., where she had lived the past 11 months. Lucille Plemling was born June 9,
1926, in Rochester, attended Rochester schools and was employed as a dental
hygientst here. On May 26, 1948, she married William G. Moran at St. Francis
Rectory in Rochester. They moved to Arpin in 1950. Her husband died Aug. 12,
2000. Mrs. Moran was a cook with the Arpin-Auburndale school system for 30
years and volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital for 10 years. She was a 50-year
member of St. Francis Catholic Church and PCCW, a member of St. James Catholic
Church in Vesper, and a 50-yeaar member of Arpin Coffee Clutch and Arpin
American Legion Auxtiary. she enjoyed playing cards. survivors include a son,
Steven (Kelly) of Middlesex, N.J.; two daughters, Sharon (Rollin) Dupree of
Arpin and Susan Petit of Eyota; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Mary Ellen (James) Zachman of Minneapolis and Marie Therse Plemling of
Rochester; and a brother, Marvin (Val) McGowan of Rochester. a sister preceded
her in death.

McGowan, 89,
of Rochester will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Ranfranz Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. Andrew Beerman of St. John's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will
be in the Pine Island Cemetery. She died Tuesday (Jan 27, 1998) at Maple Manor
Nursing Home. Born Nov. 21, 1908, in Dodge county, she lived in Rochester most
of her life, and was a domestic worker, homemaker and a foster grandparent.
Survivors include two sisters, Gertrude (Mrs. Donald) Nickel of Breezy Point,
Minn., and Donna McGowan of Hopkins, Minn.; two brothers, Marvin McGowan of
Rochester and David McGowan of Oroville, Calif. She was preceded in death by
two husbands, Loren Hall and John Wiederholt, two sisters and a brother. Friends may call an hour before the
service Friday at the funeral home.

1997) at Samaritan Bethany Heights in Rochester. Myrtle Smith was born June 13, 1908, in
Rochester. She married Vyford Streiff on Jan. 19, 1926 in Mantorville. He died in
1950. She worked in the laundry and sewing room at Saint Marys Hospital for 49
years. She retired in 1973. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church,
and she enjoyed embroidery and ceramics. She was preceded in death by one son;
three brothers; one sister; and two grandchildren. Survivors include one
daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Lyle) Ondler of Rocherster; one son, Gerald R. Streiff
of Rochester; 13 Grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Leo of

Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester. Joyce Olive Schletty was born 8 Aug 1918, in New
Haven township, Olmsted county, and grew up in Pine Island. On Oct. 23, 1939,
she married Basil McGowan in Osage, Iowa. They made their home in Pine Island and later
retired to Pine River, Minn. Mr. McGowan died June 1, 1978. She married Lloyd
Bristow on
May 10, 1979, in Pine River and they made their home in Breezy Point, Minn. He
died Jan 28, 1985. before moving to Kasson in 1998, Mrs. Bristow was active in
the Breezy Point area Women's Club and Pelican Lake Conservation Club,
delivered meals on wheels, volunteered at several churchs and was an election
judge. She was a member of the Kasson United Methodist Church and enjoyed
working corssword puzzles. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Mrs. Jon)
Kaiser of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Catherine Rotter of Eden Prairie, Minn.; eight
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Peterson of Pine
Island. A daughter and four sisters preceded her in death. Friends may call
from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel in Pine
Island and an hour before the service Thrusday at the church. Memorial are
suggested to a charity of the donor's choice

will be in the Pine Island Cemetery. Mrs. Crandall died Frieday (Sept 15, 2000)
in Winona Community Hospital in Winona. Eileen Joyce McGowan was born July 1, 1922, at
Berne. She was reared and educated near Berne. She married Arthur Crandall on Oct 24, 1942, in
Rochester. The couple farmed in the Pine Island area until 1968 when they moved
to Squaw Lake, Minn., where they owned and operated the Harbor Resort. They
retired in 1978 and in 1996 moved to Stockton. She enjoyed cooking, puzzles,
crafts and her cats. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Sharon (Pete) Logan
and Mary Rack both of Stockton; five grandchildren; and one
great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Friends may call from non until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.

Edwin Crandall
will be 2 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Pine Island, with the
Rev. Ruth Phelps officiating. burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery. Mr.
crandaall, 85, of Winona, formerly of Pine Island, died Monday (July 9, 2002)
at Sauer Memorial Home in Winona. He was born Jan. 7, 1917 on the family farm
in New Haven Township, Olmsted County, and attended counry school. On Oct. 23,
1942, he married Eileen Joyce Letcher in Rochester. The couple farmed in the Pine
Island area until 1968, when they moved to Squaw Lake, Minn., where they owned
and operated the Harbor Resort until 1978. Mr. Crandall then worked for Itasca
County. In 1996 the couple moved to Stockton, Minn. Mrs. Crandall died Sept.
15, 2000. Mr. Crandall lived at the Sauer Memorial Home since 1999. He enjoyed

(Pete) Logan of Stockon, and Mary Rack of Albert Lea; five grandchildren; and
one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Friends may
