Baldwin Genealogy Joseph Baldwin was one of the first settlers in Milford, in 1639, and his name appears Nov 20, of that year in the first list of free planters. He was also brother to Nathaniel and Timothy who came same time. About 1663 he removed to Hdley, MA ane was a freeman there with his son Joseph in 1666. Josephs' will in Northampton, MA is dated 20 Dec 1680. From "New England Families Genealogical and Memorial: Thid Series, Vol IV": Joseph Baldwin was an early settler of Milford, Connecticut. His house lot was No. 52, on West Farm street, near the present station of the New York, New Haven & Hartford railroad. His wife Hannah joined the Milford church, June 23, 1644. About 1663 he went with other Milford men to Hadley, Massachusetts. He was admitted a freeman of Hadley. He died November 2, 1684. His will was dated December 20, 1680. He bequeathed to sons Benjamin, Jonathan, Joseph, and daughters. Sardis Chapman writes in "The Searle Record": "John Searle (I) in 1635 in company with others came to Springfield, Mass., as first settlers of that place. His home lot was a little north of the Union Depot of that city. He married, March 19, 1639, Sarah Baldwin, but they were seperated by his death August 11, 1641. he left a son, John (2) Searle, born March 30, 1641. He had made his will eight months before, and may have been in feeble health. Colonial Genealogies #1 1607-1920 Alexander Edwards, the immigrant ancestor from Wales, came to America ca 1640 and settled in Springfield, MA; was admitted a freeman; Around 1654 he removed to Northampton, MA. Pioneers of MA page 152 Alexander Edwards will dated 30 Aug inventory taken 24 Oct 1690. Gives to sons Samuel, Benjamin and Nathaniel, daus. Mary Field and Elizabeth Clark; Sarah North and John and Samuel Davis; wife to be well cared for. Field Genealogy Alexander Edwards came from Wales, Great Britain, in 1640; settled in Springfield, Mass., and removed to Northampton in 1655, and d. Sept. 4, 1690. He m. April 28, 1642, Mrs. Sarah, widow of John Searle, from England to Springfield, whose wife was Sarah Baldwin, daughter of Sylvester Baldwin, who came from England in the ship "Martin" in 1636 and d. on the passage.
