Whitmore Surname Project: Most Distant Ancestors

We have these Most Distant Ancestors for participants so far:

Jacob Whitmore (ca 1767-1835). Jacob is a mystery man, first found in Coshocton Co, OH, with no clues as to parentage. We have discredited the legend that he is of the Connecticut Whitmores.
Several participants have UK ancestry, with descendant family lines migrating to the east coast of America.
- Thomas Whittemore of Malden, MA.
- Thomas Whitmore/Wetmore of Middlesex Co, CT.
- Francis Whitmore of Cambridge, MA.
- William Whitmore or Whittamore of Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England.
Several participants are of Swiss ancestry, but we have no connection between them so far:
- Peter Whitmer who migrated to Lancaster Co, PA from Zurich, Switzerland.
- John Witmer who arrived in America in 1717, probably the Bern area of Switzerland.
- Joseph Widmer (1876) of Switzerland.
- Benjamin Witmer b. 1669 Switzerland.
