The Philadelphia Chapter, Book of Jobe

When I first started researching my Jobe family, I naively thought it would be pretty easy. After all, I only knew of two Jobe households while I was growing up - mine and my grandparents - for a total of 7 people. So there just couldn't be all that many people with the last name Jobe out there, could there? It wasn't as if Jobe was a common surname, was it? And of course the stories I heard from my grandfather were accurate, weren't they?

After I began searching the net for genealogy information, I quickly learned that:

1. Stories are just that, stories. They may offer great clues in researching the past, but I was pleased to discover that the story of having only 2 sons in each generation wasn't accurate. Turns out that in one of the generations I found to have 2 sons, there were also at least 7 daughters.

2. Jobe, along with all its variations, is more common than I would have thought. Sure, it's not like Smith or Jones, but only after searching through more databases than I can count did I truly realize how common Jobe is, not only as a surname but as a first name too; and there are many more people with the last name Jobe than I had ever imagined. Now, that took some getting used to, after only knowing 6 others.

While I haven't been able to connect my Jobe family to any of the other Jobe families out there, it has been truly amazing to connect with a cyber-family of Jobe researchers. They are a very generous and supporting group of people, each with their own chapters in the Book of Jobe. This one's mine.

There's not very many in the Jobe family from Philly, but check out my FAMILY GROUP SHEETS.

If you can connect with any of the people in my family group sheets, I'd love to hear from you. EMAIL ME
