Clark Kenton "Kent" Wheatley was born 30 July 1866 in Henderson County, Tennessee. He was the son of Pierce Henry Wheatley and Mary E. "Bettie" Wright. Kent moved to Ellis County with his parents, brothers and sisters between 1878 - 1880. They lived at Reagor Springs on Dr. Jack Wheatley's farm.
Clark married (1) Geneva Trippet Cunningham 28 December 1887 in Ellis County, Texas (Vol: F, p: 152). The ceremony was performed by Minister C. McPherson.

Geneva was born 25 September 1868 in Gibson County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Franklin P. Cunningham and Nancy J. Robb. Her family settled in Ellis County between 1877 - 1880. There are a lot of Cunningham descendants still remaining in the county today.

Kent and Geneva lived in a little house located on Pierce Henry's pasture in Reagor Springs. The house is often referred to as the "Weaning Shack". All of their children were born in there.

| 1. Myrtle Wheatley was born 30 November 1888 in Texas, most likely in Ellis County. She married Enos Berrington "Berry" Gaston 30 October 1907 in Ellis County, Texas (Vol: O, p: 20). He was the son of J. B. Gaston and Elizabeth Gardner. Berry Gaston was born 27 January 1888 in Kentucky (World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918) and died 31 August 1943 in Navarro County, Texas. Myrtle and Berry Gaston were separated when she became ill with Brights Disease. Myrtle went home to Kent and Lou. She remained under their care until she died on 27 January 1934. Myrtle is buried in the C. K. Wheatley family plot in Waxahachie Cemetery in Ellis County, Texas. | |
| 2. Verna Wheatley was born 05 August 1890 in Texas and died 05 September 1961 in Midlothian, Ellis County, Texas. She married James Elsie Hayes 19 December 1908 in Ellis County, Texas (Vol: O, p: 365). He was the son of Frank Hayes and Eliza Holbert?. James was born 16 July 1885 in Tennessee (World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918) and died 30 June 1931 in Ellis County, Texas. They are buried in Midlothian Cemetery in Ellis County, Texas. | |
| 3. Henry Frank "Bo" Wheatley was born 17 November 1892 in Reagor Springs, Ellis County, Texas and died 23 April 1982 in Post, Garza County, Texas (Vol: 8, p: 592). He married Ida Lavelle Boren 13 December 1914 at her parent's home in Ellis County, Texas. She was the daughter of George Marion Boren and Mollie Helms. Ida was born 10 January 1898 south of Reagor Springs in Ellis County, Texas and died 11 June 1983 in Post, Garza County, Texas (Vol: 9, p: 22). They are buried in Terrace Cemetery in Post, Garza County, Texas | |


Geneva Trippet (Cunningham) Wheatley contacted tuberculosis and died from the disease on 22 February 1904 in Ellis County, Texas. She is buried in Waxahachie City Cemetery in Ellis County, Texas (Addition: 1, Block: 11, Lot: 9)

Clark Kenton "Kent" Wheatley married (2) Louisiana E. "Lou" Erwin 11 January 1917 in Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas (Vol: 5, p: 503). She was born 10 November 1874 in Falls County, Texas. Lou had never married, she worked as a bookeeper for the Waxahachie Daily Light and took care of her invalid mother until she died.
