Henry Frank "Boe" Wheatley

Henry Frank "Boe" Wheatley was born 17 November 1892 near Reagor Springs, Ellis County, Texas. Boe was the youngest child and only son born to Clark Kenton Wheatley and Geneva Trippet Cunningham.

Henry Frank "Boe" Wheatley

Boe was a serious minded person. He was a good man who excelled at carprentry, farming and teaching. Boe expressed a strong belief that "straight was the gate but narrow was the way". He felt we should take the high road every time and help our fellow man. Our ancestor had a strong belief in God and his leisure time was spent reading the Bible.

We do not find Henry Frank's personal characteristics in public records. We do, however, find him living in Ellis County in Precinct # 1 in 1900 and in Ray Township in 1910. The 1910 record shows our 17 year old Henry living very close to young Ida Boren.

Henry Frank "Boe" Wheatley married Ida Lavelle Boren 13 December 1914 in Ellis County, Texas (Vol: R, p: 507). Ida was born 10 January 1898 south of Reagor Springs in Ellis County, Texas. She was the daughter of George Marion Boren and Mary Talula "Mollie" Helms.

"Memories of Grandad"
by G. D. Wheatley

A pool hall in Post, Texas became an occasional hang-out of mine. After seeing me come out of this establishment, Grandad Boe came to visit at my mother and father's house. We were sitting at the kitchen table when Grandad explained that there was nothing wrong in playing pool but maybe I was keeping the wrong company. They were gambling on dominoes in the back room and he thought that was wrong. He was so persuasive in his teaching that this 15 year old boy never went back.
