Subject: update on the 10 acres
Hey Bill Here's your update on the 10 acres plus our family news.
As you know, my dad was killed by a drunk driver on June 7, 2001. My Uncle Phil passed away in Cathey's Valley, California on March 24th, 2002, and....
On March 25th, 2003 we lost my dad's brother, Paul. He was born in Rush Hill on October 03, 1925 and passed away in Mexico, MO. Of that generation of Brower's only two brothers are left, my Uncle Jesse and my Uncle John. Curt and I went to the funeral in Mexico. A four hour drive for us, but my cousin Deb #2 always has her home welcome for us.
Uncle Paul was married three times and all of his children were there. The oldest, Mary Ruth had not met any of us before this. She was found through rootsweb 2 years ago by Deb #2. And of course, she was welcome with open arms by all of us. There have been a lot of phone calls, pictures through the internet and all. She lives in Tulsa.
It had been about 40 years since I've seen Paul Jr. who was with his second wife. He lives near St. Louis.
And the rest of the girls, Alice, Donna Ruth, Clara, Beverly Anne, and Jeannie, were all doing well. I have re-injured my knee so moving progress has been going slow, or I should say packing progress. We have decided to rent a storage unit to put our furniture in so I can have full use of my greenhouse. So I'm packing some things for storage and some for the travel trailer......
All of the logs are delivered, and we have given our 30 day notice on this rental house.
So... by the end of April, Curt, Ranger and I will be moved on to "The Brower Patch"...
Curt and I have been clearing out the trees by the secondary highway which we will be buying a tube for the ditch there to get to my lane. We've also cleared out our bbq area. I found 3 gooseberry bushes in that area and trimmed them up. As I started walking around then I found "bunches" of gooseberry bushes.. hahahhaa Here's a pic of Curt by the fence.

I drive my tractor around every chance I get. Bill, Mary Ruth's other half calls me "The Tractor Queen".. hahahaa Attached you'll find the favorite tractor picture so far.. It's a lot easier to get from one end of "the patch" to the other with this knee driving my tractor.

In digging through the brush we came across a great old woven wire fence. I'm currently clearing around it and may plant near it since it's close to the garden area. You'll find a pic of that too.

My rhubarb, horseradish, daffodils and everything else I planted out there so far are coming up... so I'm just happy, happy, happy....

We are going to have a very busy spring and summer... I won't have the internet at the trailer right off, but will have access to my hotmail account once a week and I will let you know our new address.... We are very lucky to have such a great support group of family and friend... A friend of ours, Dean, came and took care of my dog and my seedlings while we were in Mexico... I have 23 tomato plants, 5 cilantro plants, about 100 marigolds, morning glories and all sorts of herbs that will be ready to go in the ground soon... Our brother, Bud has helped, and his wife, Deb has had a meal ready for when we finished working, and Dean has planned where he's going to put his tent for the summer, for his daughter, Ashley and himself.
I almost forgot the good news in all the sadness of our trip... On the way home we stopped at a cemetery in Meadville, Linn County, MO. I knew Cynthia (the sister of my gr-gr-gr grandfather) had passed away in Meadville, and she married Jefferson Wilder... In the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Census records I had found them either in Parson's Creek or Meadville... So we were taking a chance. I told Curt look for Wilder's... We parked my van and the row right by my door there were the three Wilder son's and wives.... That really got me going... Knee or no knee I was going to walk that whole cemetery if I had to... It wasn't but about 10 minutes later with Curt and me splitting up that I found Jefferson and Cynthia's stone.. I yelled for Curt so he could take the pictures and when he positioned the shot to take it, he said, "there's William Brower, right there"... right next to Cynthia's, was her father and mother... Here I was so excited I didn't even look any farther...
William Brower was born in New York Nov 24, 1792 and died Jan 17, 1872....
Since finding the birthfamily almost three years ago, with getting back into genealogy, I have visited my grandfather's, gr- grandfather's, gr-gr-grandfather's (Wellsville Cemetery) and my gr-gr-gr-gr-grandfather in Meadville Cemetery. Not bad huh.. *S*.. I know, you are thinking I need to get back to the web pages.. and that is my goal in 2004...
2003 is My Cabin In The Woods... *S* take care Vicky
