Subject: Working at the "Brower Patch"
We were at the "Brower Patch" yesterday
and got the frame up to my greenhouse; by we, I mean my brother,
Curt, myself and my dog, Ranger. *S*
Today we are going to try to get the tin up enclosing the north
end. This year the greenhouse is going to store our furniture,
etc. while we live in my 26' travel trailer, until we get the
cabin built. I told Curt I wanted some area on the south end
though, in the greenhouse, for times like right now. Here it is
the 2nd of February and I already have cabbage, brocolli and
cucumbers coming up in my containers in my office. hahahaha I
just love playing in the dirt.
When we finish with the frame, I get to play with my tractor...
hahahah I'm going to be brush-hogging where the garden will be
going, then Curt is going to trim limbs on trees and all.
I have been keeping a picture and tape diary of the work we do. I
have been sending the pictures to my brother, Chuck, in Arizona
(via the Internet) and he shares them with my family there. I
love my digital camera and camcorder. And have even found some
new pictures that I want to find time to paint. It's as if my
trees are calling to me. *S*
You have to keep in mind on this whole project that the only
areas that have been cleared before are the east pasture (which
we haven't touched yet), which is mostly raspberry and blackberry
patches, and the area north of the pond (which is where my
gardens will be). This year I'm shooting for a garden of 30' x
50'. All of the rest of the land has been trees that we have had
to clear out.
My knee does pretty good, I feel it strenghtening when I'm
walking. (chuckling) More like hurting, so I know it's
strengthening. I wear an ace wrap and that really seems to help.
I haven't had to use the cane for a long time now, boy did that
make me feel old. *S* Speaking of old, hope your birthday was as
nice as mine.
Around the garden we are building a fence of the longer limbs
that Curt has trimmed off. It's amazing how we are actually using
almost all of the trees we have to cut down. The bigger part of
the tree will be milled up for my floors and porches, the limbs
(almost 7' long) are for the garden fence, the smaller limbs are
for my planters and the smaller brush. Curt has some piled up for
rabbits to hide in, and I'm using some for on top of my planters,
so the smaller animals will hopefully stay out right now.
I had a cousin ask awhile back if I was going all authentic and
having a dirt floor. hahaha I thought to myself,
well, it's an idea, and then shook my head, brought myself back
to reality, and said, no, I was going to have my wood floors,
which I love.
My office is going to be set up in the travel trailer though,
once the cabin is built. We have the trailer set up close enough,
yet far enough away, and are going to leave it there, for when my
family comes to visit, they can stay in it, but be close enough
to the cabin.
I best get busy packing our lunches to take with us, take
care. Vicky
enjoy the pictures *S*
I don't really have any pictures of it yet, but
the cabin, greenhouse, and trailer are almost in a triangle
pattern and there is a nice area in between that will be nice for
bbq'ing with trees and all....
everytime I walk around I can envision what will be where and how
it will eventually look, one year, two years and more... it's
such a good feeling. and I feel dad with me all of the time.
