Montgomery Standard, Montgomery County, Missouri, 7 July 1922

James Bishop came in Tuesday from Pittsburg, where he went with the 
Cardinals to give the management a chance to look him over.
He signed up with the Cardinals and will go from here to Fort Smith, 
Ark., to go into training to keep his arm in condition the balance of 
this season.  He expects to go south with the regular team when they go 
into training next spring.  After looking the situation over carefully 
Jim thinks he will be able to make good, and his many friends here are 
hoping he may achieve his ambition to be a star mound artist in the big 
league.

        This is him!!! as is shown by the following info I have in my genealogy
database...  the best information that I have definitely has his middle
name as "Nowlin"...  this is also shown in a newspaper article which I
have at "How It Was In Days Gone By, Wellsville, Missouri, 11 Aug 1982"
which is a link off the "Samuel Calvin and Alice (Hayden) Bishop Family"
at url shown just above...  looks like he played for the Phillies for
the two years of 1923 and 1924...  now I know that probably the
Montgomery County, Missouri, Montgomery Standard newspaper which is
archived here in Columbia, Missouri, at the Missouri State Historical
Society's Newspaper Library room will probably have some articles in
that time frame...  I have seen them before while looking for
obituaries...  thanks for your information as it has been very
helpful...  :-)...
