ANNIVERSARY OF CHARLES E. AND ELLEN S. MINTER CLEMENT, Friday, April 19, 1946

Large Crowd of Friends Gathered at the Fiftieth Wedding Anniversay of Mr. 
and Mrs. Clement

  Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clement observed their golden wedding anniversary at 
their home on Sunday afternoon with open house beginning at two o'clock.  
Guests began to arrive early and throughout the remainder of the afternoon 
many relatives and friends of this estibmable couple came to offer their 
congratulations and best wishes.  A total of 142 persons signed the guest 
register.
  Tea was served from a lace covered table, spread in the dining room.  
Yellow flowers and tall yellow tapers in crystal candlebras formed the 
centerpiece for the occasion.  There were two cakes.  One was a two-tiered 
angel food cake topped by a miniature bride and groom, the other, a large 
white cake with the wording "50th Wedding Aniversary" in gold lettering.
  Mrs. Clement, the "bride" wore a corage of yellow roses.  The "groom" wore 
a single yellow rose in his lapel.  Vases of cut flowers decorated the 
living room and dining room.
  Charles E. Clement and Miss Ellen S. Minter were married in Montgomery 
City, Mo., April 15, 1896, by the Rev. C.C.Hill.  They have lived all their 
married life in and around Wellsville, where they have many friends.  They 
are the parents of seven children,  namely: Calvin, Mrs. Horace S. Skinner, 
Charels, Ruth, Harris, Mrs. Maynord Kropp, and Joseph Clement.  A son, 
Beverly, died in January 1944.
  During the half century that they have maintained their home it as been 
open at all times to their children and also their friends.  There is seldom 
a Sunday that some of the Clement children who live away from Wellsville do 
not drive home to see their parents.  The congeneiality and loyalty of the 
parents and children and the hospitatlity of the home are often commented on 
by those who know the family best.
  Mr. and Mrs. Clement are long-time members of Bethel and the Wellsville 
Methodist Church.
  All the Clement children were present Sunday.  Open house was not the only 
feature of the day at the Clement hme, scene of many a family 
get-to-together.  Dinner was served to thirty-seven persons at the noon 
hour.
  Those from out of town who attended the celebration on Sunday were: Mr. 
and Mrs. L.O. Brower and children of St. Charles, MO., Mr. and Mrs. G. M. 
Brower and children, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Potterfield, Mr. and Mrs. Walter 
Nowatny and children, Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Thomas and Ronnie, Mrs. Ida 
Nowotny, Mr. and Mrs. Maynord Kripp and daughter, and Mrs. Louise Zelle, all 
of St. Louis; Mrs. Jese Fry, Alton Ill., Mr. and Mrs. H.P. Fry of New 
Flrence, Mrs. and Mrs. John Skinner of Marissa, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Oscar 
Pine and children of Bellflower, Mr. Frank L. Hill and Mrs. Walter High of 
Moberly, Edwin Minter, Jr., of Columbia, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bisop of 
Montgomery City, and the followin all of Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. George 
Rodhouse, Leo Ferry, Mr. and Mrs. George McCord and children, Mr. and Mrs. 
Horace Skinner, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clement and sons, Miss Ruth Clement, 
and Harris and Joseph Clement.
