Montgomery Standard, Montgomery County, Missouri, 19 September 1957

	Wilford G. Bishop Dies In St Louis.  Wilford Granville Bishop was 
born in San Jose, California, on May 10, 1876;  the second son of Samuel 
Calvin and Alice Hayden Bishop.  He departed this life in St Louis County on 
September 12, 1957, at the age of 81 years, four months, and two days.
	Mr. Bishop came to Missouri with his parents in 1881.  He grew to 
manhood on a farm west of Montgomery City, Missouri.  His parents and two of 
his brothers, Elluid Adolphus and Addison, preceded him in death.
	Surviving are six brothers:  Samuel Clarence, John DeWitt, Howell, 
and James of Montgomery City;  Harry Stanley of Middletown;  and Roy 
Cleveland of St Petersburg, Florida.
	Mr. Bishop was married to Mary Virginia Oliver on Sept 15, 1897 who 
preceded him in death.  To this union eleven children were born.  Two 
children died in infancy.  Those surviving are:  Leola, Mrs. Alma Garrett 
and Floy, Mrs. H.A. Risch of St Louis;  Wilford Granville Jr and Wendell 
Marvin, of Montgomery City;  Harry Samuel, of Jonesburg;  Floyd Calvin of 
Vandalia;  Mary Virginia, Mrs. W.A. Seitz of Arlington, Virginia;  and Alice 
Carmilita, Mrs. Jack T. Fryer of Little Rock, Arkansas.  Also surviving are 
twenty grand-children (sixteen boys and four girls), nieces and nephews, and 
a host of friends and neighbors who mourn his passing.
	Mr. Bishop was married to Sadie Imogene Paullus in 1944;  she died 
in 1950.
	Early in life Mr. Bishop became a member of the Christian Church.  
All his life he held his belief in the teachings of the Bible, and raised 
his family to honor christian teachings and be useful members of the 
community.  He was a successful farmer, stock feeder, and businessman.  
Above all he was devoted to his family and friends.  Surely such a life has 
made a lasting impression upon the community and upon the lives of those 
with whom Mr. Bishop associated.
	Services were conducted by Rev. Paul E. White, of the Montgomery 
Methodist Church.  Interment was in the Montgomery City Cemetery - Schlanker 
Services.
