Montgomery Standard, Montgomery County, Missouri, 15 July 1948 Mrs. Joseph Tomek Jr Dies at 54 Years. Alice Jeanette Bishop Tomek, only daughter of the late Addison and Fannie Covington Bishop, was born September 11th, 1913, and departed this life on Thursday, July 8th, 1948, at the age of 34 years, 9 months and 20 days. Alice grew to young womanhood in Montgomery City, and on January 29th, 1933, was united in marriage to Joseph Tomek, of Hawk Point, where she resided at the time of her death. To this union were born 3 children: Joseph Addison, who died in infancy; Loretta Faye, age 11, and Glen Dale, age 6 months. At an early age Alice united with the Methodist Church and lived a true Christian life. She leaves to mourn her death her devoted husband, Joseph; the two children: Loretta Faye and Glen Dale; a half sister, Mrs. Delmont Lichtenberg, of Marthasville; a stepmother, Mrs. Addison Bishop, of New Florence, her mother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Covington, who reared her from infancy; devoted aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was a loving mother and wife. This seemed to be her motto in life: "Then let me now relieve some pain. Remove some barrier from the road. Or lighten some one's heavy load. Then turn some other to befriend." Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church of Hawk Point on Sunday, July 11th, 1948, at 2:00 o'clock P.M. She was laid to rest by the side of her infant son in the Hawk Point Cemetery.
