Montgomery Standard, Montgomery County, Missouri, 10 October 1957 S.S. Bishop Dies In Michigan. Samuel Slyvester Bishop, son of the late Thomas Jefferson and surviving Laura Ellen Bishop of Montgomery City, Missouri, departed this life at the age of 53 years on October 3, 1957, in Eloise, Michigan, after three years of prolonged illness. Practically most of his life was spent working in industrial endeavors at Detroit, although his birthright is Missouri, he being born August 18, 1904, in Martinsburg, Missouri. Sympathy is also extended to his surviving six sisters and three brothers who are: Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Gliser, Mrs. E.J. (Ruth) Cunningham and Mrs. Carl (Maurine) Vick, of Montgomery City, Mrs. John (Nettie) Bishop, of Bellflower; Everett Bishop, of Detroit, Michigan; Mrs Ray (Flossie) Kobush, of Harvey, Illinois; Mrs. Naomi Trowbridge of Cattleburg, Kentucky; and Neal Bishop, of New Florence; also many nieces, nephews and others relatives. The many sufferings which he endured in recent years were placed in the trusting and loving hands in Michigan hospitals, to which the family expresses gratitude. Funeral services were conducted by Franklin L. Hall, pastor of the Christian Church, at Hopkins Funeral Parlor, with interment in Montgomery City Cemetery, October 5, 1957.
