[Newspaper unknown] Montgomery City, Mo. - Samuel V. Bishop, 89, of Mineola, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 6, 1991, at his home. He was the last surviving charter member of the "world famous" Montgomery City Town Band which will play a hymn during his graveside services. Services have been set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Schlanker Funeral Home. Kenneth Cleeton will officiate and burial will be in the Montgomery City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Sam, David and Charles Harrison, Dennis Harris, Tom Mitchell and Gary Benny. Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to Mineola Methodist Church which Mr. Bishop attended. He was born in Montgomery County on Jan. 2, 1902, to Eliud and Willie Hudson Bishop. He was married near Montgomery City on June 6, 1929 to Ruth Virginia Luckett, who survives at the home. Also surviving are a son, Sam William Bishop of St. Peterburg, Fl.; and a granddaughter, Rhoda Lee Quick, and a greatgrandson, Mark Ryan Quick, both of Phoenix, Az. A son, James Donald Bishop; three brothers, David, Charles and George; and two sisters, Angie Beabout and Imogene Coleman, preceded him in death. Mr. Bishop, in his early life was a radio repairman in Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles; then he moved to Nashville, where for 12 hears he was co-owner of a lumber and millwork business. He moved to his home near Mineola after retiring in 1964.
