	Addison Bishop Member of Prominent Family Succumbs Following Brief 
Illness.  Addison Bishop, a prominent farmer of southeast of this city, died
Wednesday afternoon, May 13th, after a short illness of pheumonia, following 
an attack of influenza.
	Mr Bishop was one of nine stalwart sons of Judge and Mrs Sam C 
Bishop of west of this city.  Mr Bishop was twice married, the first wife, 
whose maiden name was Miss Frances Covington, having died about 16 years 
ago.  One daughter of this union, Alice, survives.  Mr Bishop afterward 
married Miss Susie Pemberton, and of this union a daughter, in addition to 
the wife, survive him.  He will be interred at the New Florence M.E. Church 
cemetery.

	Addison Bishop, a son of Judge S.C. and Alice Hayden Bishop, was 
born in Callaway Co., April 8th, 1883.  When a small boy his parents moved 
to their present home, west of Montgomery City, where they raised to manhood 
their family of nine sons.
	His early life was spent in farming near Mineola, and in 1910 he 
purchased a farm near New Florence, which continued to be his home until his 
death, which ocurred May 13, 1931, after a short illness of pneumonia.
	In 1911 he was married to Miss Frances Covington, who died Sept 
19th, 1913, leaving an infant daughter, Alice Jeannette who was tenderly 
cared for by her maternal grandmother.  On March 7, 1918, he was married to 
Miss Susie Pemberton, and to this union were born two daughters, one of whom 
died in infancy.
	In addition to the two daughters he leaves to mourn his death his 
devoted wife, and aged father and mother, and seven brothers.  His entire 
life was spent in agriculture, but he always took an active interest in 
everything for the benefit of his home community, being especially active in 
school affairs.
	In 1919 he united with the Methodist church at New Florence.  He was 
a man of strong convictions and high ideals, believing that honesty, 
integrity and uprightness are the proof of a man's religion.
	He never failed to have a kind word and helping hand for those who 
were down and out, and never failed in his devotion to his home and loved 
ones.

	Death of Mrs Addison Bishop.  Mrs Fannie E Bishop companion of Mr 
Addison Bishop was born in Montgomery County Mo Sept 13, 1881 and died 
Friday Sept 18, 1913 age 32 years and 6 days.
	She was the daughter of the late Judge Carter W Covington and Jennie
Covington and was of a family of four children -- one brother and three 
sisters.
	On 15 day of November 1911 Miss Fannie was married to Addison 
Bishop.  She died leaving a husband, a baby girl, a mother, two sisters and 
one brother.
	The funeral was held at the old Covington home 5 miles west of 
Minneola after which her body was laid beside her father in the family 
burying ground.

	Services For Mrs. Susie Bishop of New Florence.  Funeral services 
were held for Mrs. Susie Bishop of New Florence Wednesday, December 12, at 2 
p.m. from the Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Spiva officiating.  
Burial was in the New Florence Cemetery.  Baker Funeral Home was in charge 
of the arrangements.
	She was the daughter of William Pemberton and Angie Gardner born 
July 20, 1884, at New Florence.  Mrs. Bishop died Monday, December 10, 1973, 
at the Hermann Area Hospital where she had been a patient for six days.  She 
was married to Addison Bishop March 1918 in New Florence.  He preceded her 
in death in 1931.
	She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Delmont (Pearl) Lichtenberg of 
Marthasville and one granddaughter.
	She was a member of the New Florence United Church of Christ, served 
on the New Florence School Board for many years and a retired postal clerk.
