OBITUARY OF CHARLES L. CLEMENT, (handwritten date of 1957, no name of newspaper)

  Charles L. Clement, 63, Mexico businessman from 1939 until his retirement 
five years ago tomorrow, died of an unexpected heart attack at his home at 
1702 S. Morris St. yesterday.  He collasped on the patio and died at about 
2:30 p.m.  He had been in poor health since before his retirement.
  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Arnold funeral home, 
conducted by Dr. Bradford V. Powell, pastor of Mexico Methodist Church.  
Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
  Born at Wellsville May 7, 1907, he was a son of Charles Edward Clement and 
Ellen Minter Clement.  He attended Wellsville Public Schools.  He started 
working for the Kroger Co. as a clerk on March 9, 1928.  In August of that 
year he was appointed manager at Bowling Green.  He managed a store in 
Hannibal from April 1930 until November, 1939, when he moved to Mexico.  He 
managed the Kroger store on the south side of the square, next to Mexico 
Savings Bank, until November of 1956 when the new store on East Liberty 
opened.  He continued there until April 20, 1963, when he retired.
  Mr. Clement was a member of the Mexico Methodist Church, and three bodies 
of the Masonic Lodge, Hebron Lodge 354, Mexico Chapter 27, Royal Arch 
Masons, and Centralia Council 34, R&SM.
  He was married in 1932 to Miss Jane Quinn in Hannibal.
  He leaves his widow; two sons, Lt. Robert E. Clement of Lubbock, Tex., and 
Charles Terry Clement of Omaha; two grandchildren, Anne and Jack Clement; 
two brother, Joe and Calvin Clement of Wellsville; and two sisters, Mrs. H. 
A. (Frances) Skinner of Mexico and Mrs. Maynard (Dorothy) Kropp of Wichita.
  Masonic services will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 tonight, and the 
family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight.
