Timeline of events for the William/Francis Bishop family (Albemarle Co, VA):

1756 ---: History of Albemarle County, Virginia, by Edgar Woods, p 143
William Bishop was grantee of parcel of land on south fork of
Hardware [river south of Charlottesville] in 1756, descendants
sold to George Eubank in 1774.

1757 ---: Fredericksville Parish Vestry Book 1742-1787, p1-2
The northern part of St Anne's Parish in Albemarle County was added
to the Fredericksville Parish an act passed in 1757. "That from and after
the twentieth day of July next all that part of the parish of St. Anne which
lies on the north side of the Rivanna River and above a northeast line to be
drawn from King's Ford to the line of Fredericksville Parish, and from the said
Ford up the said river to Secretary's Ford, and thence by the main road leading to
Wood's Gap, in the Great Mountain, be added to the said parish of Fredericksville
and made a part thereof." [Thus the north part of Albemarle County was Fredericksville
Parish and the south part was St Anne's Parish-wfb]

1774 ---: History of Albemarle County, Virginia, by Edgar Woods, p 143
William Bishop was grantee of parcel of land on south fork of
Hardware [river south of Charlottesville] in 1756, descendants
sold to George Eubank in 1774. [In 1774 they collectively sold to
George Eubanks, the property of "William Bishop, the Elder, deceased".
The parties selling the land were Hezekiah & Maryann JONES, Frances BISHOP,
Mary BISHOP and Elizabeth WILLIAMS. Their connections to William Senior are
        not clear.]

1774 Oct: Albemarle County Historical Papers, XVI-51
Mr. Jefferson's Nails. Account Book 1774, December 10 - Francis
Bishop began to blacksmith for Jefferson [ie Thomas at Monticello-wfb] on
October 18, 1774 and very probably made nails. [It thus looks as if
Francis Bishop moved north from the southside Hardware River a few miles
to the area of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello planation where he began to
blacksmith for Mr. Jefferson. Monticello is a short distance southeast
of Charlottesville. So the William Bishop and Francis Bishop lines seem
to be in actuality the William/Francis Bishop line tho details are not
        clear.-wfb]

1782 ---: Albemarle County Historical Papers, V-72, Personal Property Tax - Albemarle Co, 1782
Francis Bishop in district #8. [Note: He is the ONLY Bishop listed in the several districts!]

Bishop, Cate & Charles Magehe, 21 Dec 1785
                bond- Benjamin Lacy
[Unknown if Cate Bishop is a part of family line but bond of Benjamin
Lacy seems to indicate a connection. Note 1791 Elizabeth Bishop
and 1794 Sally marriages where bond is by Benjamin Lacy too-wfb]

1787 ---: NOTE: Buck Island Creek BISHOP families - who were all probably descendants of
Francis Bishop [listed there in 1787].
