History of Cumberland Co., N.J., p 512, 513.
Nathaniel Bishop settled at Greenwich, from New England, settled in Lower part of Hopewell twp.
John Bishop was from Conn., and Easthampton and Southampton, Long Island.
In 1694 and 1697 settlers came from Fairfield, Conn.  They settled east
of Tweed or Back Creek on John Beller's two surveys, taking the land
from his agent, Thomas Budd.  It was called Fairfield twp. in May 1697.

June 18, 1784. Children, Straton, David Alexander, John, Elizabeth daten,
Sarah and Mary.

Also...Cumberland County was created from Salem County in the mid-1700's so
you may want to check Salem references for earlier Bishops...

daughters, names not given.  Real and personal estate.  Executors--the wife
and son Nathaniel.  Witnesses--Daniel Wescote, Josiah Brooks, Hugh Chard.
Proved May 28, 1723.                Lib. 2, p. 245.
1723 April 27.  Inventory of the personal estate, #137.7.5, made by Daniell
Bishop and John Shaw, stating that Nathaniel Bishop died April 24, 1723.
