I found your web site today and was fascinated by all the work that has
gone into it. I would like to see if I can make a connection to your Peery
families. My g grandfather was Thomas Peery b. between 1820 and 1827. I
don't have accurate birth records for him. He had 3 sons: William,
Cornelius, and Jonathan P. He had 2 daughters: Phoebe Nancy and C.A.

According to other family members, his father and mother were James Peery
and Phoebe Pickens. His grandparents were allegedly John Peery and Nancy
Martin. Even though I have been given this information informally, I would
like to be able to prove it with better documentation.

Does this tie into your database in any way? I would appreciate any
information you might have and would be willing to share Thomas Peery's
descendant data with you if it would add to your collection, Chris McCune

Reference: Jonathan and Elizabeth (Peery) Peery Family at Jonathan and Elizabeth (Peery) Peery Family Chris, assuming my website info is correct... then Jonathan and Elizabeth Peery's parents were John and Nancey (Martin) Peery... I just looked up some stuff on the FamilySearch.com website shown below... apparently Jonathan had a brother named James Peery (1776-1843) m1802 to Phoeba Pickens... and James and Phoeba (Pickens) Peery had the children noted below... Now you said your grandfather was Thomas Peery born between 1820-27 with sons William, Cornelius, and Jonathan P and daughters Phoebe Nancy and C.A.... in the James and Phoeba (Pickens) Peery family noted below there is a son Thomas Peery born about 1827 in Kentucky... that would appear to be who you say your grandfather was... :-)... don't know if all this info is right or not... but yes if that is your grandfather Thomas Peery then we can trace from you up thru the branches and down thru my branches to me... I checked to see if there was any more info about this Thomas Peery on FamilySearch.com but didn't see any... tho I didn't check very much... you might try doing some more checking... I have some genealogy type search websites on the main webpage of my Bishop Genealogy website... maybe this will help you but perhaps you know this info already... :-)... let me know if you think this is possibly good information or not... From: Chris McCune ckm1@mindspring.com Subject: Thomas Peery of St Clair County Missouri Date: Thursday, March 01, 2001 11:09 AM Thank you for your prompt reply. By tracking Thomas through census records I believe he does belong to James and Phoebe Peery. On the St. Clair County, Missouri census of 1860 Thomas lists his age as 37 (which would give a birth date of 1823). On the 1880 census in the same county, he lists his age as 58 (again an 1822 or 1823 birthdate). He also lists his place of birth as being in Kentucky with his parent's place of birth both being in Virginia. He also named one of his sons Cornelius and one of his daughters Phoebe or Phoeba. Most of the genealogy research gets stifled at the St. Clair County, Missouri site because of the town being burned to the ground during the Civil War. There are NO public records pre-dating the war. Thus our family has appeared missing in every branch I have investigated. If you are interested, I have a copy of Thomas Peery's will and am attepting to get Bible records from another part of the family. I can definitely fill in the rest of the tree from Thomas on down my grandfather's side of the family. Chris McCune
From: Chris McCune ckm1@mindspring.com Subject: Thomas Peery of St Clair County Missouri Date: Thursday, March 01, 2001 2:22 PM Attached is a typed copy of Thomas Peery's will. The reason I have access to St. Clair County Missouri information is due to the fact that I grew up there and most of my family still lives there. My husband and I currently live in Georgia but make frequent trips back to the Osceola area. I have attached a typed copy of Thomas Peery's will and will detail below what I know of the remaining family. As far as I can tell Thomas and his descendants are the only Peerys in the area. Thomas Peery married Vianna M. Holsapple b. 1837 d. 1866) Children: William S. Peery b. 12-30-1852 d. 3-29-1926 Cornelius Peery b. 10-1-5-1854 d. 1-10-1932 C. A. Peery b. Abt. 1859 d? Jonathan P. Peery b. 1864 d. 1956 Phoeba (or Phoebe) Nancy Peery b? d? Thomas married Nacy J. Hall on 2-26-1868 b? d? Children: Ada Mae Peery b? d? George Burna Peery b? d? Eva Peery b? d? Maude Anna Peery b? d? My grandfather was Cornelius Peery which is the only one of the family that I am familiar with in the area. Cornelius Peery married Sarah Jane Meloy on 4-12-1885 Children: J. Logan Peery b? d? married Charlene? and had 3 children: Warren, Nadine and Wilma. Ethel Peery b? d? married ?Stiles and had 2 children: Floyd and Maxine Fred O. Peery b. 3-15-1886 d? married Essie? and had 1 child: Helen Mary Vianna Peery b. 6-12-1891 d 2-14-1981 married William Reynolds and had 2 children: Perry Eldon and Fred Haley Hope this adds to your research.
