I don't know about Missouri Law..but in Ky..the law stated that the
license to marry was to be issued in the county in which the Bride
resided. The ceremony could be anywhere & of course the couple could
live anywhere. That might be an interesting bit of Missouri law to
look into.
I copied these marriages from Ancestry "Missouri Marriages before 1850"
I know the same under Ky marriages before 1850..many Bishops are left
out so suppose the same for Missouri. But the below might be of help to
someone. It does "kinda" show where early Bishop families lived.
