Hannibal Courier-Post, Hannibal, Marion, Missouri, 29 January 1923 Shulse Dies Of Pneumonia. Young Man's Funeral Held From Arch Street Church Today. William A. Shulse, an employee of the Burlington railroad, died at nine o'clock Saturday evening in his home, from an attack of pneumonia, from which he suffered for three weeks. Mr. Shulse was 38 years, nine months and one day old and is survived by the following relatives: a wife, Mrs. Lena Shulse, four daughters, Margaret, Nellie, Ida and Violet; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Shulse of this city, and a brother and sister, John Shulse and Mrs. Nellie Adams, both of whom reside in Denver, Colo. Mr. Shulse was a member of Arch Street Methodist church. He was affiliated with Mystic Lodge, No. 17, I.O.O.F. For some time he had been employed as a painter in the Burlington shops here. Mr. Shulse was well and favorably known in this city and vicinity. The remains were removed to Schwartz's funeral parlors and prepared for burial and this morning were taken to the home of the parents, 1804 Hope avenue. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon from Arch Street Methodist church, with the pastor, Rev. W. Leslie Myers, conducting the rites, and the interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Hannibal Courier-Post, Hannibal, Marion, Missouri, 04 May 1936 Shulse Rites in St. Louis The funeral of Mrs. Lena Frances Shulse, wife of John M Shulse, Jr., formerly of Hannibal, who died in a St Louis hospital Friday, was held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon at Robert Ambruster's funeral home in St. Louis, Dr. Harmon of Fountain Christian church conducted the services and interment was in Oak Grove cemetery. Mrs. Shulse was born at Shamrock, Mo., November 29, 1884, a daughter of Tyra and Nancy Bishop. She lived here for some time and was well known in this city. Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Violet Mae, and other relatives. She was a daughter-in-law of J.M. Shulse, South Sixth street, this city.

Hannibal Courier-Post, Hannibal, Marion, Missouri, 04 March 1916 Lose Second Child Within Two Weeks. Mary Nancy Shulse, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs. William Shulse, died at 3:10 o'clock this morning at the home of the grandparents, Mr and Mrs. J.M. Shulse. The child was two years, seven months and twenty-three days old. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock today. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. The family buried a child [Lulu B Shulse, 24 Feb 1916] about two weeks ago.

Shulse, merchant of Hannibal for many years. 72 years 6 months 25 days, born Keokuk, Ia. Married 10 February 1870 in Hannibal. Later left but returned in 1902. Survivors include husband, daughter Nellie Bauman and son John M Shulse both of St Louis, Missouri, and 8 grandchildren.
