Columbia Online Tribune, Columbia, Boone, Missouri, 04 January 1999 Lillian Loreen Long, 78, of Centralia died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at Boone Hospital Center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Fenton Funeral Chapel in Centralia with the Revs. James Kabler and Thomas Adams officiating. Burial will be in Wellsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the funeral home. Mrs. Long was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Middletown to Charles and Eathel May Leverett. She married Herbert Long on Nov. 28, 1945, in Wellsville, and he survives. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Cedar Grove Club and Retired Teachers Association, all in Mexico. She attended Kirksville State Teachers College and received a master’s degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She retired after 33 years as a teacher. She taught at Mexico Public Schools. Survivors also include a daughter, Mary Bradley of Hallsville; two sons, Herbert Long of Centralia and James Long of Wentzville; three sisters, Muriel Morris of Vancouver, Wash., Bertha Singleton of Mexico and Eathel Bishop of Wellsville; two brothers, Charles Leverett of North Carolina and Willard Leverett of Middletown; six grandchildren and a step grandson. A grandson preceded her in death. Memorials are suggested to donor’s choice.
