Hannibal Courier-Post, Marion County, Hannibal, Missouri, 23 August 1965 Roy Saxe, 72, Dies Suddenly; Funeral Tudesday. Roy Saxe, 705 S. Main St., was pronounced dead upon arrival at Levering Hospital Saturday night at 8:10 after suffering a heart attack at his home. The body was removed to the O'Donnell Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Dr. Elba Martin, pastor of Lindell Avenue Christian Church, will officiate and interment will be in Mr. Olivet Cemetery in Vandalia. Military rites will be conducted at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home by the Emmette J. Shields Post No. 55, American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today. Mr. Saxe was born September 28, 1892 in Vandalia, a son of the late George and Mary Tuggle Saxe. He attended the Presbyterian Church. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1913 to 1919 and was a member of the Emmette J. Shields Post No. 55, American Legion. Mr. Saxe was an auto body repairman for the B&R Garage for many years before his retirement. Surviving are his wife, Nell, two half-brothers, Francis Saxe of Fulton and William Saxe of Vandalia, nieces and nephews. A sister preceded him in death.

Roy Saxe, 72, of Hannibal and half-brother of William Saxe of Vandalia died Saturday evening, August 21 after suffering a heart attack at his home. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Levering hospital. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal with the Dr. Elba Martin, pastor of Lindell Ave. Christian Church officiating. Graveside services were held at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Vandalia. Military rites were conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home by the Emmette J. Shields Post No. 55, American Legion. Saxe, 68, of 711 Webb St., will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the O'Donnell Funeral Home. The Rev. Elba Martin will officiate and burial will be in the Laddonia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl Sagster, Charles Miller, Kenny Utley, Ronnie Hooper, Bill Yager and Robert Campfield. Mrs. Saxe died Thursday. She was born April 20, [1906], to Henry and Effie White Anderson. She was married to Roy Saxe and he preceded her in death in [Aug] 1965. Mrs. Saxe is survived by two half-brothers, William Baysinger and Robert Baysinger of Chicago; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Betty Dolce, [Br]idgeview, Ill., and Mrs. Elsie Lemaster [actually full sister], Blue Island, Ill. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
