Mexico Ledger, Audrain County, Mexico, Missouri, 5 December 1968 Lon Bishop Services To Be Saturday. Alonzo (Lon) Bishop, 84, of Martinsburg died at 6:45 a.m. today at the Audrain Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Christian Church with burial in the Liberty Cemetery in Callaway County. The Rev. John Blass, pastor of Martinsburg Community Church, will officiate. Son of Beverly A. and Janie Coil Bishop, Mr. Bishop was born at Shamrock in Callaway County where he spend his life until moving to Martinsburg last spring. A member of the Liberty Christian Church, he was a retired farmer and stockman. He was married on July 29, 1910 to Leta Covington, who survives. Other survivors include two brothers, Bert Bishop of Fulton and B.G. Bishop of Wellsville. The body will remain at the Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico until Friday noon and then taken to the Arnold Funeral Home in Martinsburg to remain until service time. The family suggests that friends may make contributions to the Liberty Cemetery Association.

Mexico Ledger, Mexico, Audrain, Missouri, 30 April 1971 Mrs Leta Bishop Dies At Age 83 - Martinsburg. Mrs Leta C Bishop, 83, died at 7 a.m. today at her home. She had been in failing health for some time. Funeral services will be at Liberty Christian Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev John Blass, pastor of the Community Church in Martinsburg. Burial Will be in Liberty Christian Church Cemetery, south of Martinsburg. Born in Callaway County on Oct 9, 1887, Mrs Bishop was the daughter of James P. and Lucy Lail Covington. On July 29, 1910, she was married to Alonzo (Lon) Bishop, who died Dec 5, 1968. Mrs Bishop was a member of the Liberty Christian Church. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mary Yaeger, who made her home with Mrs. Bishop; and the following nieces and nephews, Dr. Don McMurtry and Frank McMurtry of Wellsville, Mrs. Burnam H. Smith of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Chandler Kettner of Laurel, Md, James F Covington and Forrest T. Noel of Mexico and J J Noel of San Diego, Calif. Friends may call at the Arnold Funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
