Bishop, Services for Wilford Granville Bishop Jr., 79 of Rt. 1, Montgomery City, were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the Schlanker Funeral Home. Rev Leo Daugherty officiated and burial was in the Montgomery City Cemetery. Mr. Bishop died Sunday, Feb 20, at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He had been in failing health for the past two months. He had retired from farming in 1968. He was born Aug. 5, 1903, in Montgomery County, a son of Wilford Granville and Mary Virginia Oliver Bishop. He was married in Montgomery City on Sept. 16, 1934, to Margaret Uptegrove who survives at the home. Also surviving are a son, Wilford Granville "Bill" Bishop of Prairie Village, Kan.; two grandchildren, Mark Bishop and Mrs. Walter (Stephanie) Robertson, both of Kansas City; a great-grandson, Aaron Matthew Robertson; two brothers, Floyd of Farber and Wendell of Montgomery City; and four sisters, Miss Leola Bishop of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Wilbur (Mary Virginia) Seitz of Falls Church, Va., Mrs. Jack (Alice) Fryer of Little Rock, Ark., and Mrs. Harold (Floy) Reisch of St. Louis. A brother, Harry, and a sister, Alma Garrett, preceded him in death. Mr. Bishop was a member of the First Baptist Church in Montgomery City.
