Montgomery Standard, Montgomery County, Montgomery City, Missouri, 22 July 1954 T.J. Bishop Dies Suddenly. Thomas Jefferson Bishop, son of the late Sarah Earnest Bishop and Jeff Bishop of Warren County, departed this life suddenly July 19, 1954, at the age of 81 years. In 1895 he was united in marriage to Laura Ellen Taylor of Martinsburg, Missouri, who survives him. To this union were born ten children all of whom survive. They are Mrs. John (Nettie) Bishop of St. Louis, Mrs. Russell (Naomi) Trowbridge of Stockton, California; Mrs. Carl (Maurine) Vick, Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Gliser and Mrs. E.J. (Ruth) Cunningham Jr. of Montgomery City; Mrs. Ray (Flossie) Kobush and Neal Bishop, of New Florence; Ernest Bishop of Chicago; Everett Bishop and Sam Bishop of Detroit, Michigan. Also surviving are one brother, William Bishop of Fulton; 23 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. As a young man he was a faithful member of the Christian Church, and lived a devout Christian life as an example for his children. His burdens were many, however through perseverance carried his cross unto eternity of spiritual illumination - the request of his deceased mother. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Barr of the Wellsville Christian Church at Hopkins Funeral Parlor with interment in Montgomery City Cemetery, July 21, 1954.
