Bishop, son of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Havener Bishop was born in Montgomery County December 20, 1897, and died at the Hermann Hospital April 11, 1974. He spent his entire life in the state of Missouri living in St Louis for 30 years and then returning to Montgomery County, City of Bellflower. John R. Bishop was married for 55 years to the late Nettie Ellen Bishop of Martinsburg, who died January 3, 1973. Survivors include one daughter Mrs. Jeannette R. Smart of Bellflower; one son Joe Bishop of Evansville, Ind.; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one sister Mary of St Louis and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Jones Funeral Home, Bellflower, Mo. Saturday, April 13 at 3:30 pm conducted by the Rev. Thomas Smith of Montgomery City. Interment was in Montgomery City Cemetery. Jones Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
