Wellsville Optic News, Montgomery County, Wellsville, Missouri, 27 October 1982 Claude Bishop Rites at Liberty Church. Funeral services for Claude A. Bishop, 83, of Wellsville were held Monday, October 25, at 2:00 o'clock p.m. at the Liberty Christian Church near Shamrock. Rev. Grafton Poage was in charge of services. Burial was in the Liberty Church Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Mr. Bishop's death occurred at the family home in Wellsville Saturday. He had been in declining health in recent months but a fall in his home created the crisis. The body was taken to the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville, where visitation was held after 4:00 o'clock p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 1982. Claude A. Bishop was born in Martinsburg on April 25, 1899, youngest of the four children of the late John William and Lula Lail Bishop. He was married in Auxvasse on November 9, 1924, to Willie Ethel Woodson, who survives. The couple were the parents of three children, all of whom survive. They are Glenn Bishop of Troy, Mo., and James Bishop and Loueva Seale of Albuquerque, N. Mex. There are ten grand children and twelve great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Nattie Bishop and Thelma Johnson, and one brother, Charles Bishop, live in Fulton. There is also one nephew. Claude Bishop farmed for many years in the Shamrock community before retiring and moving to town. He was employed as a custodian for the Wellsville-Middletown R-I school for a number of years. He was a member of the Liberty Christian Chaurch.
