Montgomery Standard, Montgomery County, Missouri, 25 September 1952 Mrs Leona Bishop Dies September 14. Leona Spears Bishop, the youngest daughter of the late Robert L. and Mary Margaret Spears, was born in Montgomery County, near Brush Creek Chuch on April 18, 1872, and died September 14, 1952. She was married to Clement E. Bishop on October 25, 1899, and to this union three children were born. Her husband and two children preceded her in death. One daughter Lelia Mae Bishop of St Louis, survives. She spent her early married life in St Louis - moving to the farm in April 1906, where she spent most of her life till death called her away. She joined the Brush Creek Church in early life (March 3rd, 1890) and was a life long member. Never a strong person, her health failed very noticeably about fifteen months ago, a challenge which she met with an underated courage that had prevailed through her entire life. All that medical aid could do was done for her to no avail and she passed quietly away at the Audrain Hospital in Mexico, Missouri. Besides her daughter who did everything to comfort her she leaves a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Bellflower Presbyterian Church on September 16, 1952, at 2 p.m. by Rev. Thomas S. Hickman and interment was in Bellflower Cemetery.
