Obituary Mary Virginia (Oliver) Bishop,
Montgomery County, Missouri, 4 June 1939
Montgomery Standard, Montgomery County, Missouri, 9 June 1939 Mrs Mary Virginia Oliver, wife of W.G. Bishop of this city entered into rest Sunday evening, June 4, 1939. Memories of her ever loving thought and movement for them were left to her devoted husband and their family of nine. In her foundation of love they find an everlasting source of hope and ambition. She still leads with the gentle hand that characterized all her work in life. Her eyes spoke to all whom she met and gave to them the ease to talk with her as with their oldest friend. Her personality was so unique as never to be forgotten. She was born on July 15, 1876, and was the youngest daughter of James H. and Camilia Oliver. She has made Montgomery County her home all of her life. She graduated from Montgomery County High School on April 20, 1894, and taught school for two years. She made known her love for God by baptism into the Montgomery Baptist Church in April 1893. She was united in marriage to Wilford Granville Bishop on the 15th day of September, 1897. To this union eleven children were born. The nine surviving are Leda, Wilford Granville, Harry Samuel, Alma, Floy and Floyd (twins), Mary Virginia, Wendell Marvin, and Alice Camilia. Two daughters died in infancy. She leaves dear memories also to three daughter-in-laws, one son-in-law, and two grandchildren, besides her relatives and the number of people who knew her. She is survived by one sister, Mrs Henry Dunnegan of Wellsville. She has departed after a full life of 62 years and ten months.
