Montgomery Standard, Montgomery City, Missouri, 28 February 1902 Uncle Dave Bishop, one of the old citizens of Montgomery county, died at his residence about six miles west of Montgomery Wednesday, of pneumonia, aged about 82 years. He was highly respected by all and many will mourn his loss. The remains were interred at the churchyard yesterday morning.

Bishop, "Uncle Dave", as he was familiarly known, died at his home some seven miles west of Montgomery City, Wednesday, February 26, 1902, aged nearly 82 years. He was ill about a week of pneumonia. He was born in Albemarle county, Va, the 26th of May 1820. He came to Missouri when he was 15 years old, and had lived in Montgomery county all the time except a few years. He married Miss Harriet McCormack in 1846 by whom he had eleven children, six of whom survive him: Mrs. Maggie Dickey, Mrs. Sarah Smith, Misses Anna, Mary and Ida and Orrin, the four unmarried ones making their home with their father. His wife died in 1875. Interment at Providence Thursday. The funeral will be preached by Elder W.J. Hardesty the 4th Sunday in May next. Deceased was one among the best of men, an excellent neighbor and a good citizen. He will be sadly missed by everybody in his neighborhood, and by many others. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of many.
