Montgomery City Montgomery Standard, Montgomery County, Missouri, 15 December 1949 Obituary of Mrs. E. [N.] Coil. Elizabeth Jane Coil, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Palmer, was born near Shamrock, Missouri, on October 28, 1864 and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lula Harvey, on December 8, 1949. She had attained the age of 85 years, three months and ten days. She was married to Elijah N. Coil on September 24, 1880. To this union were born 13 children, four passing away in infancy. Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Lula Harvey and Mrs. Verna Nichols of near Montgomery, and Mrs. Mary Belle Hibbard of St. Clair; six sons: Early Coil of Williamsburg, John and Fred Coil of South Dakota, Harry Coil of California, Melvin Coil of Wisconsin, and Marvin Coil of Mexico; six daughters-in-law; three sons- in law; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Rosa Rushmore and Mrs. Ona Tate of Mexico and Mrs. Catherine McCracken of California; many other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. Coil accepted Christ as her Saviour in young womanhood, and became a member of the High-Point Christian church; where she remained a member throughout her life. She was a devoted mother, a true Christian, and a loyal friend. Her health began failing many years ago, and she had been confined to her bed for the past two years. Through her long illness she bore her burden with Christian fortitude and courage. The funeral services were held at the Montgomery City Christian Church, on Sunday, December 11th, with Rev. Guy Steele, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Liberty Cemetery, C. W. Hopkins in charge.
