| William Shelton "Bill" Armstrong (1893-1960) married Ethel Lail (1894-1974) on 3 March 1917 in Callaway county, Missouri. Ethel was born at Shamrock, Callaway, Missouri, on 8 April 1894. She attended William Wood College in Fulton, Missouri and was a graduate of the University of Missouri of Columbia. Bill Armstrong operated the Armstrong Store (sold everything - grocery line, shoes, lots of things for the house) in Shamrock, Callaway, Missouri, for many years. J Sam Lail worked/operated the general store for 59 years having become a clerk in the store for owner John W Arnold in 1869. In 1882 J Sam Lail purchased a half interest in the store and became a partner. Bill Armstrong became a partner with his father-in-law, J Sam Lail, in the store in 1923. Ethel Armstrong taught at Shamrock High School in 1921 thru 1923. Bill and Ethel are buried in Liberty Church Cemetery northwest of Shamrock, Missouri. | ||
