| John Spears (?-1835) married Jane Pope (Lail) (1804-1905) on 26 June 1823 in Kentucky. In 1830 John and Jane along with their two daughters and one son moved to Montgomery County, Missouri. However in 1835 John died in Montgomery County and Jane remained a widow until 22 July 1843 when she married Edward Wesley Garland Wingfield (1806-1880). Edward and Jane had five daughters all born in Montgomery County. The Wingfields with their extended family of the daughters and their spouses moved to Seward County, Nebraska, in 1873. Edward died in Seward County, Nebraska in 1880. In 1890 the Wingfield extended family moved to Wilbarger County, Texas. Jane died 7 March 1905 in Vernon, Wilbarger County, Texas.
