brother of Fred Bishop of Palo Alto, David Bishop of Pacific Grove, and Mrs.
Ruth Suchorski of Vallejo. A native of Palo Alto, age 66 years.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday,
May 19, at the Chapel of Roller and Hapgood, 980 Middlefield Rd., Palo Alto.
Interment Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto. Services under the auspices of
Palo Alto Lodge No. 346, F&AM. Contributions may be sent to either the
American Heart Assn. or to friends' favorite charity.

Pioneer Family Member Succumbs
Palo Alto
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday for George S.
Bishop, 66, an insulation contractor and member of a pioneer California family.
Bishop was stricken by a heart attack Friday while driving a vehicle
and was dead on arrival at a Palo Alto hospital.
Bishop, of 220 Emerson St., was the owner and operator of Bishop Insulation
in Palo Alto.
His grandfather, Samuel A. Bishop, came to San Jose in 1871 and developed
the first electric street car line on the West Coast. Earlier he was a rancher
in Kern County where officials later named the city of Bishop after him.
George S. Bishop, a native of Palo Alto, lived in the city all his life.
He attended San Jose State University.
He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 1471 and Masonic Lodge No. 346, both
of Palo Alto, and Palo Alto Shrine Club of the Islam Temple.
He was the husband of Jennie Josephine Bishop of Palo Alto, father
of Samuel Alexander Bishop of New York City, Mrs. Madeline Bishop, Anderson
of Palo Alto, Richard William Bishop of San Jose, Mrs. Jessie M. Avila of
San Carlos and George S. Bishop Jr. of Redding; brother of Fred Bishop of
Palo Alto, David Bishop of Pacific Grove and Mrs. Ruth Suchorski of Vallejo,
and grandfather of seven.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Roller and
Hapgood followed by interment in Alta Mesa Memorial Park.
