Baptism of John/Johannes:
The record book of the Penistone church, documents the baptism of Johannes Wainwright, filius [son] of John/Johannis Wainwright on Oct 17, 1668. Note that the next-to-last letters of the first names of father and son are different. This was due to the use of Latin spelling of the name for a child, (which reverted to the adult spelling when the child became an adult). |
