My Grandfather (Otto Rhodes) always stated that is
Grandfather was named William Leper Rhodes. But in the Census it has been hard
to trace. GrandPa's father Robert is listed in the household of Jacob Rhodes in
the census's of Jackson County 1860 & 70. I believe Jacob may have been a
brother to William Leper. Also in the 1880
Roane County Census listing Robert & Rebecca as being married and
listing his father as William Leper Rhodes.
On 17 Feb 1856 when William Leper was 21, he married Rebecca
J. ROLLINS, 66, in Jackson Co. Va. Born in 1842 in Jackson Co.Wv.

Robert had taken Ill, and was having trouble supporting the
family.
Robert and his family stayed at what was called a poor/work
farm in Putnam County apx 1903-10. My Grandfather always said it was located
across the river from Red House. But no record has ever been found of this
workfarm.
My Grandfather Otto and the rest of the family escaped on
day. He said it was the worst place he could ever remember in his life.
According to Grandpa,Robert Died there,but there is no record
of him.
His mother Rebecca is said to have died while hoeing in a
field near Osborne Mills, near Amma, Wv.
On 6 Jun 1879 when Robert R. was 23, he married Rebecca R.
GREEN, 64, daughter of William GREEN, 1264 & Eleanor WESTFALL, 1265, in
Roane Co. Wv. Born on 6 Mar 1861. Rebecca R. died on 19 Jun 1913, she was 52.
Buried in Osborne Mills, Wv.

Other sources state that he was born on the 2nd or the 4th
of January,1898.
But GrandPa always said he was born in 1900. So His birth
date is not for certain.
On 29 Jul 1925 when Otto McKinley was 27, he married Gertie
Mae JETT, 62, daughter of Waitman Edgel JETT, 76 (11 Aug 1878-) & Alice Mae
CRIHFIELD, 75 (26 Feb 1880-). Born on 13 Nov 1909 in Clio, Wv.

Coy retired from the Columbia Gas / Commonwealth Gas Company
in April 1992. with 37 years of service. Three years prior to his employment
with Columbia Gas, he began working with the United Fuel Company at Lewis
Station at Clio, Wv. Later he transferred to the Atlantic Seaboard Corporation
at Seneca Station.
In Feburary 1946 he enlisted in the Air Force.

He was discharged August 1947
He joined the Commonwealth Gas Company prior to his
retirement in Petersburg, Va. He
started as a casual Worker. In 1971 he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent
of the Compressor Station. In 1984 he was promoted to Superintendent of the
Station. In November 1989 he was
promoted to Richmond area Superintendent over the Pipline Network.
On 27 Apr 1954 when Coy Lee was 26, he married Patrica
JOHNSON, 1030, daughter of Oral JOHNSON, 1032 & Muriel EDWARDS, 1031.
