Raberts Corner
The Raberts Corner Hotel, now a private residence, stands at
the intersection of Gun Club (originally Wertman Road) and Spring
House roads in the heart of several Wertman farms. The original
George Phillip Wertman home and farm is believed to be located on
what is now Gun Club property. Raberts Corner dates from 1878,
formerly Oswaldsville (1860-1878) and is in New Tripoli, Lynn
Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. A Wertman home is located
across the corner from the hotel.
Wertman Barn
East of Raberts Corner and about a mile west of Route 309 is
the newly restored William J. S. Wertman barn, which was built in
1916. The barn is now part of Carl Wertman's well maintained
farm.
Carl Wertman's Home.
Carl Wertman has turned his home into almost a museum. His
excellent restorations of the family surrey, sleigh and other
collectibles fill his home. We met Carl while stopping to take a
picture of his Wertman Barn. He was having a picnic on his lawn
across from the barn and he invited our caravan for a cold drink
where we shared family information and pictures.
