Historical Acceptance Committee

In July of 2000, 42 Wertman researchers met in Allentown, Pennsylvania to reform the Wertman Family Association. A common topic of discussion was the poor state of Wertman information on the internet. It was decided that only data verified by primary documentation be used on the website.

A problem arose right away. We are not aware of any document that proves the identity of the children of George Philip Wertman. Five sons are named in the History of Lehigh & Carbon County, Pennsylvania by Matthews & Hungerford published in 1884. This is, of course, a secondary source.

We have discovered that primary documentation on the early family is very difficult to come by. So, assumptions and speculation have become necessary to further to project. Every attempt has been made to clearly indentify sources of information that is proven and what is not.
