My
grandfather, Leo Cote, was born in Kankakee Illinois on September 5th
1893 to parents Felix Cote and Eleanor Guay, the fourth of nine children,
whom are Edward, William, Ralph, Leo, Alma-Sadie, Wallace, Willard, Cecelia
and Julia. In the spring of 1909, the Felix Cote Family arrived in the southern-Alberta
town of Langdon. The family made a homestead there until 1918 when they
moved to the small town of Howie Alberta which is now called Cessford.
Leo married Iris Mae Butts in Calgary Alberta on January 9th
1923. In 1928, they moved to their new homestead of NE-35-74-23-W5 in the
Whitemud Creek region of northern Alberta and they had ten children together
before Iris died tragically in February 1938. Leo passed away in McLennan
Alberta in September 1978.
