Christian Bogenschitz On the oath of Allegeance,Christian made to the U.S. in 1830 he signed his name,Christian Bogenschitz. Also on the Interstate papers & Cemetery records in 1859,the name is spelled the same.however,on Magddalene's & Jacob's marriage record, the name is spelled Bogensch, and since the record is in German, this is probably the correct spelling. I am researching my great grandfather Christian Bogenschutz, he was born in Cape Vincent in either 1847 or 1849. His parents were Ignatz and Fredericka Bogenschutz. This information was on a letter with marriage records in Minnesota court house. Anyway the family left New York and went to Wisconsin Manitowoc county. Christian and later went to Perham Minnesota. My question is do you have a birthdate for Christian. There is a listing for a Christina Bogenschutz born in 1847, but I think this may be an error. I would appreciate any help you could give me. I do plan to go to New York this fall and am anxious to know his complete birthday.
Thank you for your help.

From: "Thomas M. Bogenschutz" <tomvron@gisco.net>" Adolph Esline. Christian and his wife Mary Signer had also moved to Wisconsin and best I can determine the move to Wisconsin took place in the Spring of 1854 or 1855. The 1860 census shows Christian and wife Mary Signer in Wisconsin along with their three oldest children. In 1869 Christian and
wife Mary traveled by covered wagon to the Oklahoma territory and settled in Kansas. Christian died there in 1875 and his wife with seven of their children returned to Watertown, N.Y. where her parents lived.
One daughter Geneva had married and remained out there. Jacob one of Christian & Mary's
children married Elizabeth Parsnow and in 1890 moved to Clayton, N.Y. In 1892 Jacob purchased a parcel of land on Water St. and built a Hotel known as the Pastime Hotel. My father Frank was born there in 1892. Jacob being an honest man trusted his help and suppliers to much and he lost the hotel. He continued to live in Clayton, his wife died in 1918 and in 1927 or 1928 he moved to Rosiere to live with his cousin John Fecker. John died in 1932 and willed the farm to Jacob and his children. Jacob was a hard worker and a wonderful grandfather. I spent several summers with him as a young boy. I have always thought my grandfather was ten foot tall, and after studying about his life I hold him in awe.
Lawrence Constanzer's wife was Mary Ann Bogenschutz and all of their children except the two that married Ignatz and the cousin Christian remained in Rosiere and every year the
Constance Reunion is held, usually at a State Park on the St Lawrence river. There are usually two to three hundred people attend. The past few years many of the Bogenschutz clan also attend this semi annual event. Some as far away as Washington State.I have heard Mary Lou Splett, Gene Hopp and possibly the Perchel's and Darlene & Melvin Waters plan on attending this years reunion to be held on August 18. You can find out more about the reunion by contacting Phyllis Putnam at
PHYLPutnam@aol.com <mailto:PHYLPutnam@aol.com>. Phyllis is a descendant of Lawrence Constance.
My Grand daughter and I are putting together a family history and hope to finish it within the next year. When I have completed my search of all the local records about the Bogenschutz clan I will share with anyone interested. I have visited the graves of Christian, Theresa, George and Philippina and their children many times. I plan on taking photo's of the grave markers as well as the places where they live in this county and have same available at this years reunion. I have the Family Tree Maker program on my PC with a large collection of family data. Do you have your tree on computer? if so let me know and I will send a file of my info.
Sincerely
Tom Bogenschutz

Jacob Kestly durning the 19th Century in Germany, when a young man reached the age of 18, he was conscripted into the army. Jacob did not like life in the army, so ran away to Switzerland, made his way to Italy to a seaport, stowed away in a wine barrel abord a ship bound for America .[William Lonsdorf, granson of Jacob,as a small boy knew Jacob and remembered his stories, ]
The above information was gathered by Wm.F.Kestly,grandson of Jacob, on a trip to Unter-Simonswald in the summer of 1973 Also there was an advertisement placed in a German newspaper in 1852,requesting the whereabouts of soldier,Jacob Kastle, absent without leave from his troops.
Jacob was the last child born of Franz Josef Kastle & Agatha Schultz. There were aproximately ten children born befor Jacob. Most died early. probably an Aunt or Uncle raised Jacob.
