Perhaps these pages will bring you stories that were told a hundred years ago by firelight from the hearth when a widowed grandmother would sit and rock in her chair as her knitting needles clicked.  She would pass down the stories of her own great-grandfather and how he packed his sons and daughters and the family's few belongings into wagons and headed West.

Armed only with their faith in God and perhaps a hunting rifle, they braved the elements, met with dreadful diseases and overcame Indian hostilities to make a new home for their descendants.  Though some of the stories may have been forgotten, many records of different kinds have been preserved so that the past may be linked with the present.
