Former Countian Died at Rockford, Illinois

Bertie Franklin Elder was born July 29, 1916, in Wayne Co. and departed 
this life in the Municipal Hospital at Rockford Ill., March 10, 1948 aged 31 
years.  He was united in marriage to Nellie Leola Crutchfield June 30, 1935.  
To this union were born three children.  He is survived by his wife and children, 
Dolores Evelyn Elder, age 11 years, Donald Brenton Elder age 7 years and 
Clifford Leon Elder age 5 years.  Surviving also are his father William Elder 
of Poplar Bluff, two sisters Mrs. Gertie Batton of Ann Arbor, Michigan and 
Mrs. Bessie Pilcher of San Jose California.  The mother of the subject of this 
sketch deceased when he was only two years old.  Bertie Franklin Elder 
professes forth in Christ while in the hospital.  Funeral rites were conducted 
at Center Ridge, below Greenville, Sunday afternoon, with Rev. J. C. White 
officiating, burial under direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
