Joseph Allen Butler
(4th Cousin)
Feb 02, 2009
Joseph “Joe” Allen Butler, age 44, of Rocky Point died Monday, February 2, 2009 at his home.
He was born September 22, 1964 in Wilmington and was the son of Alton R. “Rusty” and Patricia Ward Butler of Atkinson.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife of 24 years, Melinda Corbett Butler of the home; sons, Allen Everett Butler and Jeremiah Cicero Butler both of the home; sisters, Marjorie B. Helms of Atkinson and Janet B. Hare of Cleveland, Georgia; nieces, Sarah Helms and Erica Hare and nephew, Alex Hare.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Everett and Eloise Ward and Joseph and Bessie Butler.
Joe graduated from Pender Academy and attended Chowan College where he played football.
Joe was a simple man who loved his family dearly, especially his beloved wife, Melinda. Allen and Jeremy were the light of his life and he always took time to take part in their activities whether it was sports or school. He loved the beauty of all of God’s nature, the call of the woods as he spent many treasured hours hunting with his beloved hound dogs. He had a heart of gold … was kind, caring of others and loved a good joke. Joe will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw. Following the visitation on Wednesday the funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Butler Anderson, Pastor Richard Wurtzel and The Rev.
