Atkinson - Mrs. Katie Inez Barnhill Harrell, 73, died Sunday night in Cape Fear Memorial hospital.

Mrs. Harrell was born in Pender county on March 20, 1911 and was a daughter of the late Bizzel and Katie Sherman Barnhill. She was a member of the Atkinson Baptist church.

Surviving are her Husband, Mr. Alton C. Harrell of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Marie H. Gafford of Smithfield, Ms. Edith Woodcock of the home; one son, Mr. Marion C. Harrell of Currie, one sister, Mrs Alice Callahan of Norfolk, Va., one brother, Gerald Barnhill of Atkinson; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services Wednesday from Atkinson Baptist church with the Rev. Ottis King, Dr. Phillip Thetford and Rev. Merrel McKoy, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodcock cemetery.

Casket bearers will be George Highsmith, Jr., Gurney Woodcock, Sidney Simpson, Jack Turner, James V. Eakins and David Harrell.

Alton was born on 15 Oct 1906 in Watha, Pender County, NC, died on 11 Apr 1993 in Atkinson, Pender County, NC, at age 86, and was buried in Apr 1993 in Woodcock Cem., Atkinson, Pender County, NC.

They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary June 12, 1977.

Alton was a veteran of World War II - US Army Corp.

He was a member of the Caswell Presbyterian Church, Atkinson, NC.
