Johan Henry Verdriess (aka Vantreese) was born circa 1680 and purportedly married circa 1712.  Arriving in America they (wife Katherina Margaret nee' ?) settled in Frederick, Maryland, and was a member of the Moravian Church.  To this union was born the following children: Johan Jacob, Johan Phillip, Hartman T. L., Johan Valentin "Felte", Fredrick

 

1.  Johan Jacob Verdreiss (aka Vertries, Vantreese), son of Johan Henry Vantreese & Katherina Margaret (nee' ?) was born about 1713 in Europe.  He married Catherina Eulder on March 09, 1735/36 in Maryland by Rev. J. C. Stover, and to this union was born, the following children:

1.  Joseph Vantreese.

2.  William Vantreese.

3. Catharina Vantreese in March 1738/39.

4. Johannes/John Vantreese baptised April 27, 1741 in the Manaquice (Monocacy) of Maryland; and he died April 26, 1803 in Hardin County, Kentucky.

5.  Jacob Vantreese born November 30, 1743.  Jacob Vantreese married Jane Chenoweth.

6.  Daniel Vantreese born about 1750.

7.  Isaac Vantreese born April 15, 1755 and died April 15, 1822 in Hardin County, Kentucky.  Isaac married, and although the name of his first wife is unknown, they had a son, William Vantreese born October 15, 1779 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; died October 16, 1822 in Hardin County, Kentucky.  William Vantreese married Sarah Brandenburg March 25, 1800.  She died September 8, 1821 in Hardin County, Kentucky.  Isaac married (2)  Elizabeth Berkheimer on December 5, 1781 and they had a son, Jacob Vantreese born October 23, 1782 and died December 15, 1846 (his will was dated August 26, 1846).

2.  Johan Phillip Verdriess (aka Vertries, Vantreese), son of Johan Henry Vantreese & Katherina Margaret (nee' ?) was born Lambsheim, Germany about 1715  and baptised May 21, 1716 according to a Lutheran Church Book of Frankenthal, Germany.  No further info is available at this time.

 

3.  Hartman T. L. Verdriess (aka Vertries, Vantreese), son of Johan Henry Vantreese & Katherina Margaret (nee' ?) was born October 15, 1716 in Fussgenheim, Palatinates, Germany.  Hartman died December 28, 1778 in Graceham, Moravian Church, Frederick County, Maryland.   Hartman married Catarina Benderin on February 10, 1743/44 in the Moravian Church at Graceham, Maryland by Pastor Stover.  Catarina was born about 1718, and died after April 14, 1794 per will.  Hartman Vertries is shown as "being of the first settlers of Tulpehocken and members of the Tulpehocken Church from 1743 to 1746, according to Rupp's Thirty Thousand Names of Immigrants in Pennsylvania.  To this union was born the following children:

1. Rosina Vantreese who married Andreas Herker.

4. Johannes/John Vantreese born about 1749.  Johannes married Ursula Gordon before 1777.

c.   Elizabeth Vantreese, no information available but purportedly born prior 1790.

f.   Lucy Ann Vantreese was born May 4, 1790 in Hagerstown, Maryland; died February 24, 1868 South English, Iowa.  She married Daniel Noffsinger about 1808 in Washington County, Pennsyvlania (as his second wife).  Daniel was born April 11, 1771 in Pennsylvania and died November 13, 1844 in Knox County, Ohio.  Children born to Lucy Ann and Daniel are as follows:  (1)  Catherine Noffsinger born Feburary 24, 1809 in Utica, Ohio; died March 24, 1849.  She married George Jenkins; (2) Maria Noffsinger born May 6, 1810; died about 1850.  She married a Mr. Britton; (3) Margaret Noffsinger born December 7, 1811; died about 1901.  She married twice (1) a Mr. Potter, (2) a Mr. Wiggins; (4) Samuel Noffsinger born about 1813; died about 1885; (5) Nancy Noffsinger born August 29, 1815; died about 1889; (6) John Noffsinger born September 10, 1817; (7) William Noffsinger born February 17, 1820; (8) Lucy Ann Noffsinger born April 6, 1822; died about 1890.  She married William McWilliams.  They were the parents of, namely:  Helen McWilliams, Margaret Ruth McWilliams, Thomas B. McWilliams, James Ferguson McWilliams & William Cary McWilliams; (9) Andrew Noffsinger born November 27, 1825; died about 1909.  He married Helen Woodward (as his 2nd wife, 1st wife unknown), and (10) David Noffsinger born April 6, 1828; died about 1895.

4.  Johan Valentin "Felte" Verdriess (aka Vertries, Vantreese), son of John Henry Vantreese and Katherina  Margaret (nee' ?) was born about 1717 in Bad Durkheim, 6 miles from Fussgonheim.  Felte died sometime after 1772.  No record of his marriage, nor name of his wife is known.  To this union was born the following children:

1.  Maria Catarina Vantreese was born May 6, 1743, baptised June 13, 1743.

2.  Johannes Jacob Vantreese was born March 11, 1744.  He married Maria Catharina Zitherin (banns were announced September 9, 13, 15, 1772).

3.  Maria Magdalene Vantreese was born October 31, 1746; baptised June 24, 1747.

5.  Friedrick Verdriess (aka Vertries, Vantreese), son of Johan Henry Vantreese and Katherina Margaret (nee' ?) was born about 1722 in Alsace Lorraine.  Friedrick married Dorothea Buckin on November 25, 1746 in Old Evangelical Lutheran Church of MD by F.S. Weiser, and to this union was born the following children: Frederick, Johannes Jacob, William, Conrad, Jacob, Emanuel

1.  Frederick was born October 4, 1747, baptised May 8, 1748 and died between August 28, 1817 (date of his will) and November 3, 1817 (date will probated) in Fleming County, Kentucky.  He married Keziah nee' ?, and they had the following children:   Dorothea Vantreese, no further information available; Sarah Vantreese, no further information available; Rachel Vantreese, no further information available; James Frederick Vantreese born about 1776; Elizabeth Vantreese born October 20, 1778 and Emanuel Vantreese born September 17, 1788 near Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; died March 8, 1858 and he married (1) Magdalene Helmic who was born about 1800 and died before December 1821; (2) Amelia Jenkins on December 25, 1821 in Mason County, Kentucky and she died before June 1835; (3) Mary Ann Hill on June 2, 1835 in Ross County, Ohio.  Mary Ann Hill was born October 4, 1808 and died November 2, 1855.

Children born to the union of Emanuel Vantreese and his first wife, Magdalene Helmic, are as follows:  Silas Vantreese married (1) Sarah Baum and they had Charles W., Asbury Davis, Francis M. & Sarah L; (2) Lucinda Clark and they had Harriett, Rosetta J., & Mary Anna; and (3) Catherine nee' and they had George W., Aract; Ida May & Isaac; and Francis Vantreese.  Children born to the union of Emanuel Vantreese and his second wife Amelia Jenkins, are as follows:  Elizabeth Vantreese born about 1822, married (1) a Mr. Chambers; (2) Ephraim Stephens;  Phoebe Vantreese born about 1824, married William Tuttle; Mary Vantreese born about 1825, married George Widener; Ruth Vantreese born about 1829, married Joseph Racobs; Daniel Vantreese born about 1830; died about 1909.  He married Nancy Ann Stephens in Greensburg, Indiana.  Children born to the union of Emanuel Vantreese and his third wife Mary Ann Hill, are as follows:  Overton Buckley Vantreese born March 18, 1837, died about 1910.  He married (1) Rebecca Jean Rouse Barnhart; (2) Martha Grosscost on August 3, 1862 in Columbus, Bartholomew County, Indiana; Drucilla Vantreese born July 19, 1838 and married Joseph Spencer; Isadora Vantreese; Iowa Vantreese who married John Anthoney; Vienna Vantreese; Martha J. Vantreese; Naoma Vantreese; Christianna Vantreese; Joseph Henry Vantreese born about 1839; died about 1918.

4.  Conrad Vantreese was born about 1755 and died 1813 (his will recorded December 1813 in Hamilton County, Ohio).  He married Catherine Gross, daughter of Johan Daniel Gross.  Conrad & Catherine were the parents of  (A) Dorothea Vantreese born about 1778; nothing further known; (B) Jacob Vantreese born May 5, 1780 in Crosby Township, Ohio; died May 9, 1805.  He married Elizabeth Drybread April 27, 1802 in Butler County, Ohio, daughter of George Drybread and Susan/Susannah Sager.  Elizabeth was born June 10, 1780 (or June 6, 1780 per another source) and died April 22, 1850.  Jacob and Elizabeth had one child, a son, George Vantreese who was born October 2, 1803 in Crosby Township, Hamilton County, Ohio and died March 19, 1899 (his will was dated April 20, 1898) in Decatur County, Indiana.  George Vantreese and Elizabeth Storms were married April 5, 1826 near Harrison, Ohio.  She was born September 9, 1806 in Warren County, Ohio and died January 29, 1895 in Decatur County, Indiana and they had (a)  Jacob S. Vantreese was born September 5, 1827 and died March 20, 1885.  He was married to Martha F. Pullen on February 12, 1856.  To this union were born the following children:  Missouri Belle Vantreese who married Edward Arbuckle and they had Frank E., Jesse N., Charles A., & Thomas E.; Emma E. Thompson.  He was born July 20, 1793 and died September 10, 1820.  They had a daughter Emily H. Thompson born January 19, 1819; died September 7, 1852 Miamitown, Ohio.  She married Henry W. 6.  Emanuel Vantreese was born about 1768 and died January 18, 1824 (his will probated 12 April 1824 in Daviess County, Indiana).  He married Juliana Storms, a daughter of Daniel Storms and Anna Stemple.  Juliana died about 1821.  Emanuel and Juliana were the parents of the following children: Mary Vantreese;  John Merriam Vantreese was born September 4, 1804; died January 7, 1895, Washington, Indiana.  He was married to Laura G. Prentiss on May 27, 1830 in Martin County, Indiana.  She was born about 1814 in Lexington, Kentucky and died about 1882.  John & Laura had the following children: Henry E. Vantreese married Sarah A. McCan on September 1, 1858.  He served in Civil War as a Lt., dying at age 93 at Old Soldiers Home.  Sarah died December 21, 1917; Helen S. Vantreese married Dr. John A. Scudder on February 7, 1857 and to this union was born the following children:  Charles P. Scudder, Laura G. Scudder, Matilda S. "Tillie" Scudder, Anna S. Scudder, David Scudder, Dene A. Scudder and Jennie W. Scudder; Lydia G. Vantreese married a Mr. Aikeman on August 29, 1865; Ann Eliza Vantreese died about 1927; Emma B. Vantreese married (1) Hiram Hyatt on February 11, 1873 and to this union was born three children, William A. Hyatt, Sarah Emily Hyatt and Harry V. Hyatt.  Hiram died February 16, 1896.  Emma married (2) Z. T. Gordon about 1909; William L. Vantreese died about 1927; Daughter Vantreese born about 1830; Thomas P. Vantreese born about 1831, died October 18, 1911, was married to Sarah Dean Albertson, and to this union was born three children, namely:  Thomas P. Vantreese, Harry Vantreese, Warren Vantreese; John M. Vantreese born January 20, 1833 married Alma Lydia Dorn; Charles R. Vantreese was born about 1839, died January 17, 1910.  He was married to Adelia Sawyer on November 21, 1857 and to this union was born two sons, Frank Vantreese and William Vantreese; Laura F. Vantreese born November 1841 married William M. Aikeman on February 11, 1863,and to this union was born three daughters, Helen A. Aikeman, Mary D. Aikeman and Laura G. Aikeman; Juliann was born about 1810.  She married Kenneth Dye on December 29, 1827 in Daviess County, Indiana by the Rev. Hiram A. Hunter; Emanuel was born December 31, 1811 in Hamilton County, Ohio; died May 29, 1881 Washington, Indiana.  He was married to (1) Martha Matilda Bratton about 1836 and to this union was born a daughter Susan Vantreese April 7, 1850 (2) Dorcas Nelson Kelson March 4, 1851.  Emanuel & Martha had a daughter Susan born April 7, 1850.  Emanuel & Dorcas had two sons, Albert Kelso Vantreese and Alvin Vantreese.
