Johan Henry Verdriess (aka Vantreese) was born circa 1680 and purportedly married circa 1712. Arriving in America they (wife Katherina Margaret nee' ?) settled in Frederick, Maryland, and was a member of the Moravian Church. To this union was born the following children: Johan Jacob, Johan Phillip, Hartman T. L., Johan Valentin "Felte", Fredrick 1. Johan Jacob Verdreiss (aka Vertries, Vantreese), son of Johan Henry Vantreese & Katherina Margaret (nee' ?) was born about 1713 in Europe. He married Catherina Eulder on March 09, 1735/36 in Maryland by Rev. J. C. Stover, and to this union was born, the following children: 1. Joseph Vantreese. 2. William Vantreese. 3. Catharina Vantreese in March 1738/39. 4. Johannes/John Vantreese baptised April 27, 1741 in the Manaquice (Monocacy) of Maryland; and he died April 26, 1803 in Hardin County, Kentucky. 5. Jacob Vantreese born November 30, 1743. Jacob Vantreese married Jane Chenoweth. 6. Daniel Vantreese born about 1750. 7. Isaac Vantreese born April 15, 1755 and died April 15, 1822 in Hardin County, Kentucky. Isaac married, and although the name of his first wife is unknown, they had a son, William Vantreese born October 15, 1779 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; died October 16, 1822 in Hardin County, Kentucky. William Vantreese married Sarah Brandenburg March 25, 1800. She died September 8, 1821 in Hardin County, Kentucky. Isaac married (2) Elizabeth Berkheimer on December 5, 1781 and they had a son, Jacob Vantreese born October 23, 1782 and died December 15, 1846 (his will was dated August 26, 1846).

Johan Phillip Verdriess (aka Vertries, Vantreese), son of Johan Henry Vantreese & Katherina Margaret (nee' ?) was born Lambsheim, Germany about 1715 and baptised May 21, 1716 according to a Lutheran Church Book of Frankenthal, Germany. No further info is available at this time. 3. Hartman T. L. Verdriess (aka Vertries, Vantreese), son of Johan Henry Vantreese & Katherina Margaret (nee' ?) was born October 15, 1716 in Fussgenheim, Palatinates, Germany. Hartman died December 28, 1778 in Graceham, Moravian Church, Frederick County, Maryland. Hartman married Catarina Benderin on February 10, 1743/44 in the Moravian Church at Graceham, Maryland by Pastor Stover. Catarina was born about 1718, and died after April 14, 1794 per will. Hartman Vertries is shown as "being of the first settlers of Tulpehocken and members of the Tulpehocken Church from 1743 to 1746, according to Rupp's Thirty Thousand Names of Immigrants in Pennsylvania. Children born to Lucy Ann and Daniel are as follows: (1) Catherine Noffsinger born Feburary 24, 1809 in Utica, Ohio; died March 24, 1849. She married George Jenkins; (2) Maria Noffsinger born May 6, 1810; died about 1850. She married a Mr. Britton; (3) Margaret Noffsinger born December 7, 1811; died about 1901. She married twice (1) a Mr. Potter, (2) a Mr. Wiggins; (4) Samuel Noffsinger born about 1813; died about 1885; (5) Nancy Noffsinger born August 29, 1815; died about 1889; (6) John Noffsinger born September 10, 1817; (7) William Noffsinger born February 17, 1820; (8) Lucy Ann Noffsinger born April 6, 1822; died about 1890. She married William McWilliams. They were the parents of, namely: Helen McWilliams, Margaret Ruth McWilliams, Thomas B. McWilliams, James Ferguson McWilliams & William Cary McWilliams; (9) Andrew Noffsinger born November 27, 1825; died about 1909. He married Helen Woodward (as his 2nd wife, 1st wife unknown), and (10) David Noffsinger born April 6, 1828; died about 1895.
4. Johan Valentin "Felte" Verdriess (aka Vertries, Vantreese), son of John Henry Vantreese and Katherina Margaret (nee' ?) was born about 1717 in Bad Durkheim, 6 miles from Fussgonheim. Felte died sometime after 1772. No record of his marriage, nor name of his wife is known. To this union was born the following children: 1. Maria Catarina Vantreese was born May 6, 1743, baptised June 13, 1743. 2. Johannes Jacob Vantreese was born March 11, 1744. He married Maria Catharina Zitherin (banns were announced September 9, 13, 15, 1772). 3. Maria Magdalene Vantreese was born October 31, 1746; baptised June 24, 1747.

Friedrick married Dorothea Buckin on November 25, 1746 in Old Evangelical Lutheran Church of MD by F.S. Weiser, and to this union was born the following children: Frederick, Johannes Jacob, William, Conrad, Jacob, Emanuel 1. Frederick was born October 4, 1747, baptised May 8, 1748 and died between August 28, 1817 (date of his will) and November 3, 1817 (date will probated) in Fleming County, Kentucky. Mary Ann Hill was born October 4, 1808 and died November 2, 1855. He married Juliana Storms, a daughter of Daniel Storms and Anna Stemple. Juliana died about 1821. Emanuel and Juliana were the parents of the following children: Mary Vantreese; John Merriam Vantreese was born September 4, 1804; died January 7, 1895, Washington, Indiana. He was married to Laura G. Prentiss on May 27, 1830 in Martin County, Indiana. She was born about 1814 in Lexington, Kentucky and died about 1882. John & Laura had the following children: Henry E. Vantreese married Sarah A. McCan on September 1, 1858. He served in Civil War as a Lt., dying at age 93 at Old Soldiers Home. Sarah died December 21, 1917; Helen S. Vantreese married Dr. John A. Scudder on February 7, 1857 and to this union was born the following children: Charles P. Scudder, Laura G. Scudder, Matilda S. "Tillie" Scudder, Anna S. Scudder, David Scudder, Dene A.
