Charles Robertson was born about 1775 in Virginia, and died after October 1821 but before February 1, 1822 when his Will was probated in Clark County, Indiana. Charles married Nancy Ford on December 14, 1797 in Fluvanna County, Virginia, daughter of Bartlett Ford and his first wife Frances Bowles. Nancy was born July 23, 1776 in Virginia, and died March 02, 1860 in Clark County, Indiana at the age of 83 years, 8 months, 8 days.

Although family lore is that Charles was a son of Alexander Robertson & Margaret Robinson Robertson, there has been, of late, much controversy over the relationship of Charles Robertson as to his being a son of Alexander & Margaret Robinson Robertson.

His brother George (if indeed they are brothers) never actually acknowledges him by name, per several researchers, although just as many believe him to be, as has not been proven otherwise.

In instruments where the name Charles is shown, the name Charlotte is not, and vice versa. But then, again, George's wife is never mentioned either - why?

There were a total of 5 sons AND 5 daughters born to Alexander & Margaret, with 2 sons dying in infancy. More research needs to be done to clarify and/or verify this portion.

And about Melinda Goss Roberton ~

MELINDA GOSS ROBERTSON

Melinda Robertson, wife of John T. Robertson, was born in Washington Co., Ind., Nov. 9, 1843. She was the daughter of John and Phoebe Goss and united in marriage to John T. Robertson in 1858. To this union were born eight sons and four daughters, of whom seven sons and three daughters survive the father and mother.  All were present at the funeral except two sons, who reside in California. She was the seventh child in a family of ten children, of whom four sisters and one brother survive. Sister Robertson became a disciple of the Church of Christ at the age of sixteen and ever remained faithful to "faith" once delivered to the Saints. She leaves a family that are certainly worthy the consideration of all people and especially Christian people, for in them may be found the positive evidence, of the truth of the scripture which saith; "Train up a child in the way that he should go. And, when he gets old he will not depart from it." Ten children, and all healthy and strong, all possessed of sound mind and business judgments, not a stain on the character of either, and all students of the word of God, and workers in the holy vineyard. This is a record for which we are earnestly looking for a parallel and last but not least, perfect peace reigns among the children.

Mother the sweetest, and dearest of all.
That the bounties of earth can afford.
Like all of lifes treasures will wither and fall,
May they fall in the arms of the Lord.
