Lawrence C. Ponsler, 88, of 531 W. William St., Decatur, formerly of Shelby County died 3:25 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 5, 1982) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Funeral servicees were at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Brummerstedt Funeral Home, Stewardson. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Shelbyville.

Mr. Ponsler was born in Shelby County, son of Francis H. and Martha Ann Ponsler. He was a retired construction worker and a World War I veteran. He married Maude Lawrence.

Surviving are his wife; sons, Charles Wesley ofMonticello; Francis Hug of Belleville; Walter Eugene of Davis, Calif.; brother, Elgin ofShelbyville and sister, Verna Ponsler of Shelbyville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
